samba will not work for me... :/
I've had this problem since FreeBSD 4.3. This problem continues with my FreeBSD 4.4 machine. I can't connect from my Win98se and Win2kPro machines to my FreeBSD 4.4 Samba server. I've tried it all... but still no luck. I've run smbd and nmbd manually with the "-D" parameter. I can connect internally from my FreeBSD 4.4 box using "./smbclient

Bug#564693: logcheck: should suggest/recommend nail
Package: logcheck Version: 1.3.5 Severity: minor Hi, reading logcheck source it seems that it requires nail for MAILATTACH to work, however it is not suggested/recommended. (JFTR it is debatable if nail is appropriate or something else should be used) thanks, filippo -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500,

Multiple NT users on a single box
I have a win2000 box for multiple users. Each user has their own user name and password which is authenticated on the same box. I also have a Linux/Samba box serving up files and shared directories. The users and passwords are duplicated on the linux box - I'm not using user/pass synchronization or anything like that, I just duplicate the effort (for now). Each winNT user has a drive

Looking for common dtrace scripts for NFS top talkers
We started seeing odd behaviour with clients somehow hammering our ZFS-based NFS server. Nothing is obvious from mpstat/iostat/etc. I''ve seen mention before of NFSv3 client dtrace scripts, and I was wondering if there ever was one for the server end, displaying top talkers, writes/reads, or locations of such to nail down abusive clients short of using snoop/tcpdump to nail down via

High load
Hi Is there a way to nail down the issue of high load on a server basically trying to understand the reason behind high load at a specific time period. I use top command but it does not have history. Roaming profile error
Hi everybody! I'm a samba rookie, and I'm trying to make my own roaming profiles. The situation is simple, a single debian samba server and a single windows xp client, with the signorseal value set to 0. I have my unix users with their home directories in /home/username, and I'd like them to have a windows login. Right now I don't care about mixing unix and windows

Samba 4 + Windows XP very slow - especially noticeable with many files
Hi, After our upgrade from Samba 3.x to 4.1.6 we are having major performance issues. Today, I've been able to nail it down to a simple test case. What strikes me is that Windows XP takes about 25 seconds for one job, while it only costs 3 seconds on Windows 7. I have two tests: 1000 files of 10k each (total ~10Mb): * Linux on localhost or a remote host (1GE or 10GE): 5.5 seconds *

sizeof(DIFlags)
Hi list, Is there a standards based reason why the DIFlags enum is set to uint32_t[1]? I am sure my DWARF-std-reading-fu is not up to snuff and so I cannot seem to find it. The reason I ask is that we are running out of space for our own DIFlags and would like to nail this down before deciding on an approach. Thanks! Sohail [1] The code in question:

Cisco 7940 Question
Hi all, I know this is a stupid question, but it is one I've been trying answer for quite some time. Exactly how many simultaneous calls can the Cisco 7940 have, considering you can be talking to one, and have XXX others on hold? Using SIP, is XXX only 1? I've found documents in various places indicating different values in regard to the max number of calls the phone can handle.

Thanks, Akemi, you have hit the nail on the head! The spurious error message was caused by a statement in .cshrc that created output, a stray unescaped exclamation mark in an alias definition. SIP Debugging to separate log file
Hello, I'm working with our SIP provider to nail down some call quality issues we're having, and they've asked me to provide SIP debug log files from our asterisk server. Is there a way to make asterisk 1.4 output only SIP debugging to a specific log file? Or it is best just to use tcpdump? Thank you! -- Jason Martin Metrix Matrix, Inc. 785 Elmgrove Road, Building 1, Rochester, NY
