Desperate Help Required Getting SAMBA back on line
I am running SAMBA on Red Hat 7.0 and after a bad upgrade my SAMBA server is dead. I ended up re-installing from the source and now my server is not accessible to our Win9x clients. smbstatus show the server running but no one on the network can see the server. I am still a bit of a newbie and I am having trouble troubleshooting this. I really am in a jam and I need some help ASAP. I am not

Strange Share Trouble
I am running SAMBA on Redhat Linux 7.x. I have a share for our office as a file server. The regular Win9x client can browse / edit / delete and use the server with no issues from the Windows Explorer / Applications except for one. We run AutoCAD (drafting) with an extension Cadpipe. Cadpipe has it's own file browser style interface where you add files to a list to create a

Adding Things to Rescue Mode
I'd like to add a few things to rescue mode. I'm tired of having to use a floppy with hardware drivers when ever I need to go into rescue mode and there are a few other utilities that I'd like to add as well. How would I go about doing this? Any pointers to FAQ's or "How to's"? I've done some searching, but haven't found anything recent enough to be

First time Wine--config problems
Okay, I'm not a programmer, but I'm not new to Unix either--used it years and years ago in college before Win 3.1 came out. So I'm pretty rusty, but it IS coming back.... Here's my problem. I'm using Wine-20010510 on SuSE Linux 7.1. Wine seemed to install fine, but every time I try to run it, it says the c:\windows and c:\windows\system directories are invalid. I've

Q's about switching from sendmail to postfix
Running CentOS 4.2 with all updates. I've been using sendmail for my MTA since forever. I've grown used to it and I can make it do what I want it to. However (there's always a catch, isn't there)... Lately it seems that some mail is being lost. I've noticed some instances when a message was sent to myself and others which I will only see if someone replies back to

Linux Red Hat 5 as a client with SAMBA(smbfs).
Hello, I am having a problem trying to get Linux and smbfs to use our domains resources as a client. What we would like to do is set up connections to the shared resource on the domain for use with the Apache httpd on the Linux system. Currently if a user creates a connection to a shared resource in the Domain , only UID 0 can access the share. There are many other problems but I will

Hey All, just a quick question about printer upload/download stuff that's been confusing the hell out of me for a couple days... I'm running Samba 2.2.7 and CUPS 1.1.17 on a RedHat 7.3 System.. I'm trying to get the

modifying user agent strings in http requests
Hi all. How does one change user agent strings in http requests made in R? And how do I figure out what my current user agent string looks like? Thanks in advance, Soumendra -- Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. Info: Samba over SSH
Hi all, thought I'd pass on some info. With some local help, we've isolated the problem (unable to mount Samba partitions over SSH) down to the Win9x SSH client itself, or rather, an interaction between the SSH clients and Win9x. Samba requires _only_ TCP port 139 to mount and access files, so that's the only port you need to forward. I should also mention that you need to put the

User list problem on Win9x.
I'm a bit confused about user enumeration on Win9x boxes. I've got a couple of machines running SaMBa. One (M2Dual) is running 2.0.7 with security = domain and domain server = M2Hub. The other (M2Hub) is running 2.2.3a with security = user. I also have three Win9x machines. All have user level security turned on. Roving profiles work on all machines and all users. Logon scripts run
