How are you verifying? Have you tried using top and looking for smbd and nmbd? Swat may be giving you erroneous info if that is what you are using to verify. I ran into a similar problem with one of my machines. I simply couldn't quite understand why it happened. I did destroy and recreate the machine account and it still persisted. I ended up changing the machine name and creating a new machine name for the system. That is the only fix that I am aware of at this time. I am having trouble starting my nmb. I have tried to start it a number of times. I tried via swat, using the shell, and it is set up to automatically start with smb. It fails to shut down and start each time. I'm very new at this, and don't have the trouble-shooting skills yet. Thanks, Anna

If I enable wins support = yes & I start smbd it starts smb & nmb. When I restart the service it says that there is no nmb service at 10045 running. When I do a ps -aux, you can still see the service running. They will keep building up until I manually delete them. Does anyone know how to fix this?
