samba-ldap pdc howto problem
Greetings: I'm on section 3.2 (page 7) of the SAMBA-LDAP PDC HowTo and am getting errors. This is on a brand-new install on RedHat 7.2, using openldap-2.0.23-4.i386.rpm, openldap-clients-2.0.23-4.i386.rpm, and openldap-servers-2.0.23-4.i386.rpm from the 7.3 tree from a RedHat mirror (Rawhide wouldn't let me in at that point) and samba-2.2.4-2.src.rpm from RedHat's Rawhide tree. segfault and RunSnowWorker: not found
Hi, While I suspect that this is an issue peculiar to my machine (Debian squeeze amd64, R version 3.0.1, up-to-date packages), I'm hoping that somebody on this list may be able to give me suggestions on how to troubleshoot and fix the following: > library (snow) > cl <- makeSOCKcluster(c("localhost","localhost")) sh: 1: RunSnowWorker: not found I presume/hope

Hello, I am trying to compile sources of R-1.5.0 on a Mandrake 8.1 linux box. For Fortran compiler needs, I downloaded and installed a g77 rpm. But the configure step fails with following output. I would like to know if any of you had similar problem and how you solved. Thanks in advance. singular convergence in glmmPQL
I am using the 'glmmPQL function in the 'MASS' library to fit a mixed effects logistic regression model to simulated data. I am conducting a series of simulations, and with certain simulated datasets, estimation of the random effects logistic regression model unexpectedly terminates. I receive the following error message from R: Error in lme.formula(fixed=zz + arm.long,random=~1 |

Permission denied after successful mount of Windows share
I'm wanting to mount a Windows share from a Windows 2003 Server to a Fedora Core 2 using Samba. I run the following mount command (as root), which terminates with a 0 return code, but when I attempt to look at the mounted filesystem with df or ls, I get a "Permission denied" error. Here is the mount command (with user/pwd/machine altered) and debug level 4... mount -t smbfs -o

intermittent failure of ability to connect to samba share from win (NT/2k) client
First, my installation is samba 2.2.8 running as a daemon (not inetd) on Solaris 8 configured to use a WINS server and provide authentication via a PDC (same host as WINS server). I do have an lmhosts file in the samba /lib directory with the PDC/WINS server address in it. My globals section; [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP netbios name = SAMBASERVER security =

If I do a 'smbclient -L <sambasever>', I do not see a list of workgroups or masters. That's because we didn't set Samba up to be master. If I do a 'smbclient -L <ntserver>', I see: This machine has a workgroup list: Workgroup Master --------- ------- NTDOMAIN <ntserver> WORKGROUP

[Bug?Report] ldapsam duplication of output if two ldapsam sources
Goog morning, First of all, my setup : - Samba 3.0.1pre1 to Samba 3.0.1pre3 (RPM home recompiled from samba.org SRPM); - OpenLDAP 2.0.27 (stock RH9) + Solaris RootDSE patch, all on RH9; - Two LDAP servers (one master, one slave, replication of all the base); - Samba setup as PDC + BDC, using Samba3 LDAP schema. I noticed a few days ago in the NT4 srvtools that the first query (when opening

Re: Intermittent "internal error: signal 11" with 3.0.24
Hi all Follow up to this post, as it didn't seem to go through the first time. We have a common problem occurring with our Samba setups. We run 3 (identical) processing environments that each contain a Samba host sharing approx .5TB of data to 6 Wintel machines. Normally these hosts operate fine, though we intermittently experience a Samba panic (intermittent = every 2-3 days) as per below.

Canon multifunction printers / samba 3.0.2a / AIX 5.2ML2
Hello, I have problems setting up a canon multifunction ir7200. When I print the windows test page, I have something like "smiley" "arrow" "arow" "smiley" "arrow" name_of_the_samba_spool "smileys" driver.dll etc, etc, etc, on a single line. Did somebody used such a multifunction with Samba ? Below is a (long) description of what I did. I

Cannot make Windows join Samba domain
Hi, I'm having an issue trying to make a Windows machine sambaserveroin a Samba domain. Samba is running with LDAP backend (OpenLDAP). When I try to join the domain, Windows says that the machine account does not exist. The machine account, however, is successfully created in the LDAP directory after the join fails. When I try to join again, Windows says that the account already exists.

Transparent authentication issues
I am having issues getting my Windows clients (all WinXP) in a 2003 AD domain to transparently authenticate to my Samba (version 3.0.10-1.4E.2) server. I had this previously working before I changed the name of the server. After changing the name of the server in smb.conf, I ran the same init commands such as kinit, net ads join, and so on. I had also deleted the previous computer object in AD,

ldapsam:trusted=yes, 'user in passdb, but getpwnam() fails'
Hello all, I am working with samba-3.5.6 on Debian Squeeze. From the smb.conf(5), I assumed that, by using 'ldapsam:trusted=yes', one can avoid touching the NSS/PAM configuration. However, I am getting a: user in passdb, but getpwnam() fails in the logs. Is my assumption wrong? Regards, Joe -- .o. I'm a Free man. I use Free Software. ..o ooo http://www.joesteeve.org/

smbd slow to start when using ldapsam backend
Has anyone else experienced a nominal delay when starting smbd when the backend is ldapsam? I have noticed smbd slower to start after rebooting my linux box. The logs don't seem to reveal any errors. If anyone has experienced this and solved it, kindly enlighten me. Thanks in advance, Matt
