Windows 2000 printing to public printer
Greetings, I have setup a Linux Samba server with guest access to the printers and a share (/tmp). I can access the folder share from a Windows 2000 Workstation with the guest user all right. However, when I try to access the printer I get "Access denied, unable to connect". The samba log for this machine shows the following error: ---------- [2003/02/07 18:07:14, 0]

more on ailing printer system
I cranked the debug level to 10. Below is a transcript from the client log file of a client trying to open a Properties dialog for the HP 4500 printer. I am puzzled as to why Samba would be looking for a user with the name of a printer. Is this normal behavior? Anyway, about a minute after the last log entry below, the client showed a dialog "Printer properties cannot be

Unicode support--case sensitive in share name
Hi all: I create one share named gr?zer but the share can?t be accessed.I looked into the log, and find the share name will be transformed to upper case and then lower case. The ASCII can be transformed in between successfully, but German can?t. It leaded to access failed. I also tried the upper case share gr?zer, and it works successfully. samba ADS-based authentication fails with NT_STATUS_USER_UNKNOWN but wbinfo works
Hi I've found a few list posts with this problem but none of their solutions helped. Apologies for the long mail but I've no idea which section of the various logs will be the important part. I've set up a RHEL5.3 server (with Samba 3.0.33) to authenticate to an existing active directory realm on our local network. The AD server is Windows-based and works fine for a couple of

答复: Is the "\\x.x.x.x" type tree connect request a client related feature?
Thanks for your attention, Gaiseric. Sorry , but I had a little confused. Did you mean that the problem was something relevant with the DNS? However in my impression, I might not do anything about the DNS. I have some clues that might be helped: 1) First of all, my samba server version set is "max protocol = SMB2", and the final protocol according to the negotiation result is smb2.10.

Permission denied of usershares statfile in Samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.7
Hello, I have migrate my running Samba-PDC Setup with LDAP from Debian Etch to Ubuntu Hardy Server 8.04. LDAP ist running correct. Samba Setup ist working right, but acces to Users Home has a poor performance. Access to a "PUBLIC" Folder is much faster! Bug Report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/299306 The Usershare Folder: drwxrwx--T 2 root sambashare 4096 Nov

Re: [Bug 299306] [NEW] Permission denied of usershares statfile in Samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.7
This bug report can be closed.... The Problem was an error in mapping user and group ID to the LDAP UID/GID! I have set the right UID/GID in the smb.conf with uid map = 10000-20000 gid map = 500-600 -> no errors in config!! Samba processes domain authenticated user as nobody during logon. bat execution
Beating head on desk again! I have a samba server is running winbind which can access domain. It is working fine and is using domain credentials. I access the samba shares after the user has authenticated against a novell server during the novell logon script. The shares are authenticated with user domain credentials and verified with smbstatus. This works great! If I alternatively use windows

Disappearing shares
I have a problem of shares that "disappear" or are inaccessible. This only happens with Win2k and only for some users. My Samba is version 2.2.2 running on Solaris 2.6. Here's the sequence: 1) The user logs into PC (not using PDC). 2) He connects to Samba server via "Run..." and typing \\spike. 3) The user is prompted for "connect as" and "password".

Samba and Win95 printing problem
I am having some problems setting up the printing for samba and was wondering if anyone has any ideas. Samba 1.9.16p11 is running on a SparcStation 20 running SunOS4.1.3_u1. Accessing the shares, like [homes], is successful. When attempting to connect to a printer using Win95 with Service Pack 1, an error occurs. The printer share name, host name, and printcap name are all the same and exactly

Is the "\\x.x.x.x" type tree connect request a client related feature?
Is the samba server a domain controller? Is this a classic domain or an Active Directory domain. If you are using a classic domain you probably want a WINS server configured. I find it works better if the primary domain controller is also the WINS server. In a classic domain, keep the "smb ports" as the default ( "smb ports = 445 139.") What is the

Operation not permitted mounting samba-share via cifs
Hi everybody, I want to use my samba-shared Homedirectory from my Linux-Server on my Linux-workstation. I was using smbfs until now, but since i upgraded my hardware i'm not any more able to use smbfs, i get error-messages (timeouts) in the kernel logs and I/O-Errors on the console. Having this problems i read about cifs and that's much better, nicer, sexyer and faster than smbfs.

samba 2.2.2 domain security w/ win2k AD
Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 7/SPARC. Windows 2000 SP2 domain controller (native mode). Joined samba to domain as per htmldocs/DOMAIN_MEMBER.html. [global] workgroup = DOM security = domain password server = charon However, connecting to shares as non-guest fails due to authentication problems (below). As htmldocs/DOMAIN_MEMBER.html indicates this does work, is there some other magic that needs
