SunOS data time problem?
Hello,
I have installed samba on an older SunOS 4.0 server.
Everything works ok but I have an annoyance when using files
that are on the samba accessed partition when in MS Dev Studio.
When I do a build or find from within Dev Studio, Dev Studio will prompt
that the files that are loaded in the project have been modified, would I
like to reload: yes/no. I have the same setup on a Linux server

NT4.0 rename on Samba 1.9.18p2 share on SunOS 4.1.3
I am seeing an odd behavior with NT4.0 SP3 workstations trying to rename

it is run from Explorer, winfile.exe, or command prompt fails with

I don't see the problem from Win95 PCs at all, and I don't have the

1.8.1 Make problem on SunOS
I am trying to make R-1.8.1 on (SunOS shell1 5.8 Generic_108528-15 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2). I did
./configure
make
Configure output seems ok. The make proceeds until the following line appears, repeated indefinitely (until I break):
./config.status: ./confstat28489-19881/subs.frag: cannot overwrite existing file
I suspect that this may involve write permissions (and maybe

SUNOS: Samba grabs all semaphores
Ole,
Semaphores are a very cheap system resource in SunOS 4.1.x. You can easily
bump up the max number using adb, without even recompiling the kernel.

Xen and Solaris 2.6 SunOS 5.6
Hello everyone,
We have an _OLD_ Solaris 2.6 (Intel) box still running. There''s some
proprietary programs we have running on it and we don''t have the
programmer time to port it to a newer version or to linux. I was
wondering (hoping) someone has been able to get Solaris 2.6 running
under Xen.
As a side note. Has anyone had any luck getting NT 3.51 to run under
Xen? =)

openssh-2.5.2p2 on SunOS 4.1.3
Hi developers, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this
question, so please don't crcify me if it isn't :)
I'm trying to compile openssh-2.5.2p2 on SunOS 4.1.3.
Since SunOS is not in the portable list, I took a look at this mailing
list archive and found some of you guys have been able to compile it.
My ./configure says I don't have the regex library :

Performance: FASTIO_CHECK_IF_POSSIBLE win32 call differs on Linux / SunOS [LONG]
Hello,
I'am having huge performance problems using a application on win32 which
uses alot of .DBF files.
The app uses *alot* of small file reads, varying between 20-512 bytes
per read. On Windows there is something, only just learned this, called
fastio. This fastio acts like a cache because it reads-ahead 4096-bytes
even if you want to have 1 single byte. Ok, that's all nice _but_

icecast-1.3.12 on SunOS
Hello
I compiled icecast-1.3.12 on a box with uname -a: SunOS star19 5.6
Generic_105181-31 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIi-cEngine. The result
works properly. The problem is that the icecast process generates 100%
cpu load even if no sources and no clients are connected.
If I trace the process using truss, I get the following:
