users can't change permissions on samba share
I have 2.2.5 (installed using binary RPM) on Red Hat 7.2 (should be fully up2date). This server is acting as a PDC, and is working fine for the most part. The problem I'm having is that nobody can change permissions for files and folders on a service. I've attached my smb.conf. I believe everyone change edit permissions for files/folders in their profile. But nothing in the Public

file permission problem
I have Samba 2.2.1a installed on RedHat 7.2, using RedHat's rev 4 RPMs (samba-common, samba-client, samba, and samba-swat 2.2.1a-4). I have the PDC part working. But there is one file share giving me problems. I have a folder, /export0, which I want all the domain users to be able to use. I have a group, unboundtech, which all the domain users are a member of. The /export0 is owned by

2.2.6-1 src rpm
I'm trying to get the 2.2.6-1 src rpm for RH 7.x from samba.org compiled on RH 8.0. I built it as root with this command rpmbuild --rebuild --target i686 samba-2.2.6-1.src.rpm. Trying to install the built RPM (no errors in the build process) results in these unmet dependencies: # rpm -Uvh samba-2.2.6-1.i686.rpm error: Failed dependencies: perl(fix_print_html.lib) is needed by

swat from 2.2.6 and RH 8.0
I know there have been previous threads about this, but I don't think they match my problem. I have the xinetd script provided by the Samba.org 2.2.6 binary RPM, and when I enable it and reload xinetd, I see xinetd listening in a `netstat --ip -lnp` command. When I point my browser at http://localhost:901/ I'm given an Alert dialog window stating "Document contained no

Auto machine account creation
Hi everyone! I've got Samba 2.2.5 installed in a network of 3 client machines all running xp pro. Everything works ok except "on-the-fly" machine account creation...from what I've read I need something like add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -s /bin/false -M $u but this doesn't work for some reason. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or haven't

2.2.7 RH 8.0 Binary RPM's
After installing these rpm's, no swat executable can be found... I've built it from the sources and gotten it working, but is this something that needs to be corrected in the rpm? Has anyone else noticed this, or did I do something silly that I haven't realized yet?

Newbie Question: Spatial Autocorrelation with R Tutorial?
Howdy All, I am looking for some good tutorials (books, websites, whatever) for calculating/testing for Spatial Autocorrelation using R. Specifically, I am wanting to test for autocorrelation of a number of variables measured at a set of discrete locations. Up to this point I have been exploring the "spdep" package and I can get "moran.test" to work, but I am concerned that

Wine / Visual Foxpro 7 Problems (mouse click freezes the program)
Hi, First of all, apologies if I'm not posting this in the correct place. I'm successfully running Microsoft Visual Foxpro 7 under Wine, however I needed to use the native versions of shlwapi and oleaut32. There is a major problem still, however, and that is that foxpro will freeze as soon as I use the mouse to click in certain controls (the command window, a textbox, an edit box,

smbfs: correctly propogating locks?
Hi, I've been trying to get some database applications working on a mixed Windows/Linux environment using Wine on the Linux end. A recent patch to Wine finally implements the LockFile() and UnlockFile() functions, and testing on pure Linux setups works fine. However, Sharing from Windows and connecting from smbfs on Linux, the locks aren't respected. Alexandre Julliard confirms

Simulating points from GLM corresponding to new x-values
Dear List, Does anyone know how to simulate data from a GLM object correponding to values of the independent (x) variable that do not occur in the original dataset? I have tried using simulate(), but it generates a new value of the dependent variable corresponding to each of the original x-values, which is not what I need. Ideally I whould like to simulate new values for GLM objects

Unix file ownership
Samba experts of the world, I have samba-2.0.5 installed on AIX 4.3.2 and it works fine. I do have a problem that I can't figure out. When I create a file on a Samba share from Windows NT4sp5 and then go to AIX and look at the directory the file is owned by "root" group "sys".I need it to be user "bill" group "pc". What am I missing? What is not set

HELP!!!! - Samba 2.2.6 SCO Port
Hi there - I am lost currently, I have a situation where files in excess of 10MB will not transfer from UNIX to Windows XP or in return, when I attempt to do this the files come across corrupted. However, any file that is not big in size has no problem in transferring. I have looked everywhere for an answer or a resolution to this issue, and this is my last resort:( Look forward to hearing

Dovecot 2.2.6 comression library build error
Hi, I'm trying to build Dovecot 2.2.6 under Mageia Linux, and there are two issues. 1. I get the following errors during build, please see http://pastebin.com/RmSRZPip - the compression library requires dlopen/dlsym/etc functions, but the library providing them is not mentioned in the linking command. I've managed to workaround this by adding -ldl to the corresponding

new feature in 2.2.6 ?
Hi Jerry et al, will the 2.2.6 release show the printers in the 'add-new-printer-wizzard' on the client like the WINDOWS server do ? I'm not sure if you know what I mean, so here is a little illustration: ----------------------------- | NTSERVER | | \\ntserver\printer1 | | \\ntserver\printer2 | | \\ntserver\printer3 | | SAMBASERVER |
