PDC and logon script
Hi everyone,
I have a question about the logon script command. I've read and read and
read the man page for smb.conf. In essence, I've duplicated the settings on
the PDC how-to document to create a PDC with a logon script. However, when
I log in, the scrips doesn't run. The only thing I don't have enabled, like
the how-to, is roaming profiles. I'll include my smb.conf for

DNS server and printing.
Good afternoon,
This is my first post, so please be gentle ;)
Anyway, here's my question....I've recently put together a Linux Server for
our company, replacing an old Novel server. I have the box set up with
Samba, as a PDC on our network. So far, just about everything is working
correctly.
One issue I'm coming up against, though, is printing from DOS. I

Is there any work going on for Samba 2.0.6 in the way of
making passwords expire ?
Or does anyone know how to do it ?
Thanks.

Use client driver
Good day everyone,
Just a quick question. When using Samba 2.2.7a and Cups 1.17 or 1.18, is it
good or bad to use "Use client driver" as a share setting on the Printers
share? I used it with LPD, but I'm not real sure it's necessary with cups.
Thanks in advance

Samba/CUPS printing again
Hello...again...Y'all are getting sick of me, aren't ya? ;)
Anyway, I am having quite the dilemna about printing. I'm using samba
2.2.7a aong with cups-1.1.5. I know this is an old version of cups, but
this is a production server and I don't want to fool with it yet. Anyway,
we have 2 printers: HP laser Jet 4 Plus and an Office Jet R80. each are
running off a jet direct. One

cups printing
I have searched around the samba documentation, including the smb.conf man
page, and have found nothing regarding the cups printing system except
change printcap to cups. Now, I have done that, but printing still does
not work. I need some types of details and a sample smb.conf and/or any
other relevant documentation.
Thanks much,

Samba printing and CUPS
Well, I have a strange one again. Using samba version 2.2.5 and cups
version 1.1.15. We have 2 printers over the network, both TCP/IP-based
Jetdirect printers. on is on x.x.x.32, the other on x.x.x.38. I can print
to the laserjet on IP 32 all day long. However, both on Windows clients,
print jobs are not even seen in the que (either windows print que or CUPS
web interface). When I try to

Profiles -- default user ntuser.dat not being used at first logon
I'm trying to set up for my small school lab: Samba as PDC, 11
workstations running XP Pro, roaming profiles with folder redirection.
(I finally got the workstations to join the domain by adding them by
hand--so I assume something is wrong with my add machine script, but
I'll address that issue later, since I have only the 11 XP boxes to deal
with.)
Now I'm working on getting the

I'm running Samba on a SuSE Linux 8.0 machine and on Win2k I am able to
see the server in Network Neighborhood but it won't let me browse. I am

problem saving word documents
Hi,
Thought I posted this already two weeks ago. Haven't seen any reactions
yet, so I post it again
We got the following problem here:
Every now and then, users are unable to save Word or Excel documents on our
Samba server. We already tried a couple of things: disabling oplocks,
increasing oplock break wait time, putting the documents on a new share,
... but to no success so far.

WinXP client always connects as Gaia\Guest
All attempts to connect to our Samba server, share "\data" from any Windows client fails. I'm trying to get samba to prompt the windows user with a login box, have them enter the samba username/password, then head onto the share.
If I use in the address field the following:
\\gaia\data /user:woellki
a dialog box appears, with the username field greyed out "Gaia\Guest"

strict allocate = no does not work
Hi!
I've got Debian 4.0 on an NSLU2 with Samba. The system is on an
USB-Stick, the Samba share is on an USB-Disk.
Copying files to the samba share make some problems here.
I get a large delay before the transfer starts and I get timeouts with
files larger than 150MB.
I found out, that samba is writing a dump file on the disc before the
transfer starts, which causes the delay/timeout. This

Cannot access Samba through Win2000 or WinNT Server but can from WinNT Workstation?
Hi all,
I have Samba 2.2.2 running on a Linux 7.1 box.
4 machines connected to a WinNT Server via a hub.
The 4 machines are WinNT Server, WinNT Workstation, Win2000 and Linux running Samba Server.
With Samba running (see testparm for samba configuration details) I can logon and access files on the Linux machine using the WinNT Workstation but cannot access the Samba server using the WinNT Server
