Can Samba be installed on Windows 2000
Hello, Can Samba be installed on a Windows 2000 machine (then create a share) so that on the Unix side you can mount the share thats been created (the opposite of installing Samba on Unix and then mapping a drive on a Windows 2000 machine to a Unix share)? I don't need to do this, i was just wondering. ^**********************************************************************^ This email and

Help understanding lrm function of Design library
Hi, I'm developing an experiment with logistic regression. I've come across the lrm function in the Design library. While I understand and can use the basic functionality, there are a ton of options that go beyond my knowledge. I've carefully read the help page for lrm, but don't understand many of the arguments and optional return values. (penalty, penalty.matrix,

after identify labels dissapear XP
Greetings: Using 'identify' to label points on a plot works just fine. However, when saving under 'metafile' or using the clipboard the labels dissapear. I believe it's an SDI issue. I am running last R with last Tinn-r under XP up to date. Anything I can do besides going back to MDI :-)? Thanks, Mihai Nica, ABD Jackson State University ITT Tech Instructor 170 East Griffith

Best performance measure?
Hello, I working on a model to predict probabilities. I don't really care about binary prediction accuracy. I do really care about the accuracy of my probability predictions. Frank was nice enough to point me to the val.prob function from the Design library. It looks very promising for my needs. I've put together some tests and run the val.prob analysis. It produces some very

PATCH: --write-devices to allow synchronising to a block device
Hello list, I found this patch in the archive of the mailing list and a diff in the current rsync-patches git master. The current rsync-patches-3.0.8.tar.gz doesn't contain this patch. Why this? I adapted the current version from the git master so it compiles a patched 3.0.8 version. The source is also patched with the copy-devices diff. But sadly I get a error message and can't find a

Synchronising NT and Unix Passwords
Hi, I've been handed the administration of our Solaris 2.5.1 Server and have recently upgraded to Samba 2.0.5a. As the server is in a predominantly NTsp3 environment it was requested that when the NT passwords change (each month) the Unix Passwords should also change. All the NT and Win95 Clients are currently authenticating using Plain Text Passwords. Also the current security level is

Error when Synchronising
Sir, I've just install SuSE 9.0 and am running their Samba 2.8.8a-SuSE version of samba and am encountering the same problem with my windows 2000 pro machine when I attempt to access printers offered by the samba server. Windows 98 has no problem with the printers but Windows 2000 gets this error. Did you ever resolve your issue? If so would you share your solution with me? Thank you,

VM's in a HA-configuration - synchronising vm config files
Hi, i'd like to establish a HA-Cluster with two nodes. My services will run inside vm's, the vm's are stored on a FC SAN, so every host has access to the vm's. But how can i keep the config files (xml-files under /etc/libvirt/qemu) synchronised ? Is there a possibility to store the config files somewhere else ? E.g. a partitition with ocfs2 on the SAN ? If not, what would you do

Synchronising Japanese Characters in Rsync
Hi there, I have searched the rsync website, as well as an extensive search on google, but have been unable to come up with a definitive answer regarding whether rsync will synchronise files and directories which have Japanese characters in them. I am using an English language version of Linux, which has some directories shared via samba. Both English and Japanese language windows clients

Synchronising password of some AD users with an external LDAP?
I'm in a situation where I should establish an external (i.e. non-AD) LDAP directory for my employer for various web-based authentication purposes. I don't think that Samba--or Windows AD, for that matter--in and itself would be the best tool for this purpose; so far I've been reviewing 389 DS, ApacheDS, OpenDJ and plain old OpenLDAP, but have made no final decision yet. Now however,

Loop and Solver with Black/Scholes-Formula
Hello, for my diploma thesis I need to program a solver for Merton?s respectively Black?s and Scholes? Option pricing formula, which should be achieved for several dates. What I want to do is to estimate the value of a firm?s assets "vA" (x[2] denotes vA) and the option-implied volatility of firm?s assets "sigA" (x[1] denotes sigA) by solving it simultaneous using the Black
