WINS question
Hello
Have a trouble.
I have mashine with two interfaces.
Samba running at both with the same name of computer.
In wins-servers wins.dat i see next string:
"GRAND#20" 1044171787 192.168.1.1 192.168.2.1 46R
It's ok.
But for ALL mashines in any interfaces with any IP (192.168.1.X or 192.168.2.X)
returned first IP in list:

G.723.1 codec
Hi,
Want to do some experiments with the G.723 codecs - where can I download the
723 source code for Asterisk?
I know there are some ongoing discussion regarding patents and license fees
for the g.723 but I have some hardware on which I only have the 723 and need
to test it privately.
Thanks!
Dan

security=ads
Dear samba-mailinglist,
We're using samba 4.0.5 as an active directory domain controller.
We used to set up some file shares on basis security=user in the old
samba version. I was able to set up the shares as they used to be .
My Question:
How can I set up "wich user kan read/write which share?"
Do I have to do this in den Active Directory or in smb.conf?
This maybe a trivial

Which tree should I be barking up?
Running Samba 2.2.6 on RedHat 7.2 in a Microsoft NT4 Domain, trying to
create or copy a text file to a share from a MS Windows 2000 Professional
workstation (client2k) gives 'Access denied'
Reading the log file (level 3) for samba.client2k (not an activity I feel
much comfort in doing correctly) it looks like I am being recognized as a
'guest user' which is a problem but for

Samba 2.5 PDC + WinXP problem
Hey ppl !
My WinXP workstations are not able to join my domain. I tried to apply the registry fix for plain-text passwords but it has no effects :(
My PDC seems to work fine cause i've got no problems with Win2K Workstations...
Is there anything i've omitted ?

Amaury

Cannot see the samba server in Network Neighbourhood
Hi
I am a newbie to samba after taking over from a previous administrator.
I have upgraded to the version that ships with SuSE linux 8.0 and copied
over the old smb.config and smbpasswd files.
I can see the shares from a remote SWAT connection and also using the
interactive method via a DOS window, but cannot get the shares to be
seen via Network Neighbourhood. I am thinking that this may be

Multiple Groups Assigned to a File
I'm new to this group so I hope that this is the right place to ask this
question (if not, let me know):
We are setting up several Samba servers and we've run into a problem with
file permissions. We've have a few shared folders that we'd like for some
GROUPS to have read/write access and other GROUPS to have only read access.
I cannot figure out how to do this because

XML from Builder without the to_s element
Hi All,
I''m trying to return XML from a Rails view of an object I built up
using Builder::XmlMarkup and I find an annoying side effect is that I
get an extra <to_xml/> or <to_s/> element back which makes REXML
hiccup thinking I''m adding a recond root element when I try to parse
the return.
How can I return the XML without this last element?
Thanks,
Vince

MS Access and RAID
Hi,
We have been having a few problems with a M$ Access DB held on a Samba server
Samba version: samba-2.2.4-2N1
We have rebuilt a new server, and transferred the database over to the new
box, along with word/excel docs etc. Everything is working fine, except the
access database, which is running very very slowly (can be over a minute to
open a record).
Details are a little sketchy, but it

Printing only as admin?
I'm having a problem with a Samba PDC box that only lets users who are
defined by "admin users =" to print to any of the printers. As an
interim solution I just threw my @staff group in there, but of course
this lets everyone access everyone elses files :)
Here is one of my printer configs: As you can see, I tried to set every
flag I could think of to let anyone write to this.

acl resource
Hi,
I'm confused of where to set ACL? Do I set them in SWAT under Security
Options (using Valid Users, Force Group, ..., etc.)? Or do I need to
hardcoded them with setfacl? Or set them in NT client? Please direct me to
the references? I already have xfs, acl, attr, compiled in.
