(no subject)
Hello, Samba user folks :)
I have a few very likely newbie questions:
1. I installed Samba 2.2.6 from sources and I don't seem to have smbclient
or nmblookup. Did I goof somewhere and forget something that would have
included them?
2. I am curious about upgrading samba via CVS - I've looked at the
instructions and it seems pretty straightforward. Is there anything to watch
out for as

Delete files
Hello, all.
What mechanism does samba use to delete a file on a *nix box when deleted
from a connected Win2k machine?
In other words, does it run the rm -f command? Some other command? Who does
it run as? Can I intercept the command and insert my own script?
I'm interested in creating an undelete shell script that keeps files from
"accidentally-on-purpose" being erased from the

log.smbd says no hosts
Hello, all.
Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but when I view my log.smbd file, I see the
following line:
[2002/11/25 08:20:40, 3] lib/access.c:check_access(318)
check_access: no hostnames in host allow/deny list.
But looing in smb.conf I see
hosts allow = 127.0.0.1 10.0.0.
Am I looking in the wrong place or am I not understanding what's going on?
Thanks, all

Issue with Samba and Microsoft Word
Hello, all
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this:
I'll arrive in the morning, start Microsoft Word. It takes 30-45 seconds to
open.
I'll hit the File menu item - takes about 30 secnods to open.
If I close Word and open it back up, it all works fine (i.e., no delays).
If I close Word and come back to it in half an hour or so, it all starts
over.
I think I've posted this here

NT Administrator account changes permissions when logging onto samba server
Hello, all
I have a problem with my administrator accounts on WinNT with Samba.
When I log in locally as the Administrator, it works as expected - I *am*
the administrator for the machine.
When I log into the domain as Administrator, it works as expected - I log in
as root.
The prolem comes when I try to do anything on the local machine as
Administrator (logged into the Samba server). The

BackgrounDRB and Sqlite3 / Autotest / Memory_test_fix Issues
Hello all.
I am using BackgrounDRB with "great happiness and joy", however, I am
running into one problem in that when I am running my tests with
autotest using Sqlite3 3.3.17 I am getting
"ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid" exception inside of the
sqlite_adapter.rb:360 which is checking for an empty structure.
I thought it might be the version of Sqlite, so I upgraded to 3.3.17

Uncensoring a dataset - resent
Does anyone know of an R package that I can use to uncensor a normal or
log-normal dataset? I'm particularly interested in the MLE method of
Cohen (1959), "Simplified estimators for the normal distribution when
samples are single censored or truncated," Technometrics, 1(3), 217-237.
Of course, if there is anything better, I'd be glad to hear about that
too.
Thanks.

Messages keep getting resent.
I have IMAP and POP running and when I log in thru pop from my blackberry
which is the only way it pulls all the new emails. When I log into my
computer and check email via PINE i guess something is refreshed because
very soon there after if not immediately all the emails in the INBOX are
sent/pulled from my blackberry again. Why is this happening?

SAMBA - Domain function levels (resent)
Hi,
Re-sent this; sorry, it came from my other account and it was not
subscribed to this list.
I'm gonna have to be putting a good argument to my ICT team against
going to 2003 in 2003 server mode ( I think thats what they call the
highest mode for 2003 server) to keep samba at our school. I like what
windows 2003 has to offer, but do not want to lock samba out forever.
I know samba will

[resent][PATCH/liboggz] Fix an issue with the symlinks for pre-0.9.9 tool names
When files with pre-0.9.9 tool names exists in $(exec_prefix)/bin,
"make DESTDIR=${staging_dir} install" tries to delete them, which
may cause a failure for lack of permissions (quite likely to happen
when building a package as a normal user), and is wrong anyway
(nothing outside of DESTDIR should ever be changed by "make install").
With this patch, it will now cd to

[PATCH resent] virtio_net: Fix stalled inbound traffic on early packets
Hello Rusty,
while implementing and testing virtio on s390 I found a problem in

prevents any incoming traffic:
If try_fill_recv submits buffers to the host system data might be
filled in and an interrupt is sent, before napi_enable finishes.
In that case the interrupt will kick skb_recv_done which will then
