net rpc vampire -> segmentation fault
Hi all, I am trying to migrate NT4 domain to Samba-3 PDC, yet I stuck at migrating NT4 PDC information using "net rpc vampire" -- giving "segmentation fault". Any help? I use: Debian Linux, Samba 3.0.21a-Debian The steps that I did: a. In NT's server manager, I created GL-BACKUP as BDC b. Here is my smb.conf [global] workgroup = GLNET netbios name =

taking the 3.0 plunge
I'm just curious: It seems that more and more people are using 3.0 (or 3.0a20). Obviously on this list we normally hear the worst (ie xxx doesn't work, why?). What I would like to know about are 3.0 success stories. Stability? Platform? Compiler? Gotcha's encountered? Here is what I am considering: a Mandrake 9.0 box with it's default gcc 3.2, I am still using a windows 2K

kernel-vm.i686 5.0-->5.1 "Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-headers is needed by package glibc-headers"
Cough, cough, cough (I have a bit of a cold, please excuse me) Thanks for the great CentOS. I assume the following means I need to humbly ask for the kernel-vm for 5.1, but I am not certain. If so, I hereby humbly ask. --> Running transaction check --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers for package: glibc-headers --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers >= 2.2.1 for package:

Multiple codepage support
Having searched the documentaion and the archive, and having this alluded to, but not addressed directly, I was hoping someone here could set me straight: I need to be able to support multiple languages for separate users: english, simplified chinese, traditional chinese, and korean han. Is it correct that under 2.2.x that I can only get one of those at a time, using the smb.conf options

Phone and Modem Options...
Apparently there are some applications *cough*healthscreen*cough* which NEED to have a modem set up under the "Phone and Modem" options using the control panel (which IMHO is just silly). The COM port is there, terminals see it and can talk to the EXTERNAL modem connected to it with no trouble, but the application won't talk to the COM port directly. As a result the application

Routing through vpn
Hi, I've an up and running tinc vpn between my laptop and my office computer (on which I've root access if needs be). From where I'm sitting right now, UDP packets are dropped. TcpOnly has solved the problem for the tinc part and I can still connect to my office. I'd like to access some important <cough>irc</cough> UDP-only services. Do I have a

Header for Kate category
Hi, in a follow up mail with Conrad, I was wondering whether Language-Category would be conflicting with any "standard" namespace, and he suggested I ask on ogg-dev, where people (*cough* Silvia *cough) might have a better view of how to use those. He mentioned the possibility of using X-Language-Category as well. Essentially, I'm not sure if the choice for those fields has any

OT: Ecommerce hosting
Would appreciate some suggestions for ecommerce hosting. Been using, cough, cough, godaddy, for about 5 or 6 yrs but in the last year or so, they really suck. Did the hosting myself for a while prior to going with godaddy but I don't have time to babysit. Seems godaddy would rather spend millions advertising during the Super Bowl than put that money to good use. TIA!!

What kind of Ogg Vorbis-services you would like to h ave?
I know this is a little OT for the list and blatent advertising but inkeeping with the thread topic, I've just finished a Windows playlist generator for internet/radio stations. Suitable for highly automated situations. Features anti-song repeat & anti-artist repeat options. No song maintenance required. Works on a rotation or "clock" basis. Produces a personalised HTML

Cisco 7970, CTLSEP<mac>.tlv
I just wanted to post this so that it was out there and Googleable. Hopefully it will save other people a bit of time. If you have a Cisco phone (I was testing with a 7970, though presumably it would affect 7960 and others as well) that is looping trying to fetch the CTL tlv file - it may be because you are using Debians 'tftpd' (should be netkit-tftpd...*cough*hey, Debian

16 KHz clip-off?
Hello, congratulations to the Ogg Vorbis team - RC2 sounds good. But... RC2 in 128 kbps mode seems to clip off all frequencys beyond 16 KHz. On the tracks I tested Beta 4 gave response even beyond 18 KHz. Some testings on a randomly chosen track: (other tracks gave similar results) Artist: Judas Priest Album: Jugulator Title: Bullet Train Beta4: 127 kbps, ~ 18 KHz (!) RC2: 132 kbps (!), ~ 16

CentOS 7 CUPS: where queue defaults are stored?
Dear Experts, CentOS 7 outsmarted me (again...). Could someone tell me where cups print queues' default settings are stored? In the past I was doing rather trivial thing: I was setting up prototype machine (making kickstart file based on it), then I was configuring all printers on prototype machine. After which (with cups daemon stopped) I was just packing /etc/cups (and maybe
