Printing Status - Access denied, unable to connect
Hi,
I have Samba 2.2.3a setup on a RH Linux 2.4.18-10 box as a print server.
It works fine, well kind of. The users can print their documents but on
their end the get the good old "Access Denied, unable to connect" error.
It does not seem to have any effect on the actual printing but its sucks
not being able to cancel a job. Anyone know if it is possible to not get
this error and

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with
JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a
time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the
samba client does not get an error message, but
the job gets lost. :( I would like the print
jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an
active print job or when the printer is off-line.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd.

SuSE 7.1 timeout problem
Hello,
I just moved from SuSE 7.0 to SuSE 7.1 by reinstalling.
I use HP 2100TN JetDirect printer. I use kernel-2.4.2, LPRng-3.6.26,
ifhp-3.4.4, Samba-2.0.7
Printing from Linux server works just as before. Printing from Windows clients
has problems. I set it up just like before but any print job from Windows takes
its while and then spits out junk:

Favorite print command for SAMBA on Sol 2.5.1
I am having problems with the HP printers that are being handled by a
Solaris 2.5.1 machine. The boring details are towards the end.
The SAMBA print command I currently use is:
print command = echo %u - %s to %p at %T >> /tmp/smb-print.log ; \
lpr -P %p %s ; \
rm %s
;
These are EXACTLY the way they are in the smb.conf file. The server will

access denied on printing from win2k?
Hi,
I'm running samba 2.2.1a (RPM install) on RedHat 7.2
I've connected a Canon LBP-8 IV laserprinter to the network via a HP
Jetdirect box.
I've configured the printer within linux and printing goes fine.
Now I'm trying to access the printer via samba from my win2k clients. Now,
the problem is: When I'm trying to print to the printer (e.g. a testpage) I

Samba Printing
Good Afternoon,
We recently added encrypted smb passwords to our site.
I just tried to add a printer to samba and it will not work.
I tried to connect to \\sambahost\printer and it will not connect.
All the older printers still work. I just wonder if there is an
extra step I need to perform now when I add printers?
Thanks for your time,
Bill

I hope this is appropriate for this list, if not I'll take it somewhere

Printer lock-ups:
I have some printer shares available on my Samba server (RedHat Linux
kernel 2.0.32, Samba 1.9.18p3) and they are working just fine in most
cases, but from time to time the Win '95 client will either lock up while
printing or send a print job samba & lpd don't like

my printers are still paused in Win2k and WinNT 4.0
Hello,
It seems that I am in printer hell once again :) I am trying to sort out
some printer problems with our UNIX server. The basic problem is this. I
have a test server to K.I.S.S the problem. On this server I have defined two
queues which are csqlis and HPfinley. csqlis seems to work correctly and
displays ready. HPfinley always reads Paused on win2k and NT40 clients. The

Problem with job removal
Hi,
We've been stuck with this problem for a while now and we believe I tried
enough potential solutions to justify my posting here.
We're using samba 3.0.14a in Sarge in order to allow printing from Windows
workstations (The authentication works with AD+Kerberos+Winbind) to a set of
shared printers. Printing works perfectly but we would like to allow users
to have control over the jobs

Samba - cannot print multiple copies
Hi,
I successfully setup printing on my FreeBSD box
using Samba with apsfilter and lprng. However, I
have encountered two issues:
1) Cannot print multiple copies of documents from
my windows box (e.g. notepad). Only the first
copy is printed and the rest don't get printed.
2) My spool directory is getting filled up and
I would like the job removed after the print
job is finished

Printing - "lprm command" not getting executed
I am attempting to get printing services for Windows 2000 clients working
with Samba on a Red Hat 7.2 box. The problem is I can not cancel print jobs
(either from a PC or the local smb client). File sharing, and printing
other than this problem, work fine.
Here is a listing of configuration and system info: 1) the samba packages
installed, 2) output of "uname -a", 3) the

Samba & LPRng: Printer Status in Windows
I know this question has been answered here a while back, but I have not been able to find the mailing with the posts on it.

I have a redhat server that I am using as a file/print server for student use. I am using samba to help the users with Windows. The problem I have is that when using printing a user can submit a print job, and it prints fine, but cannot see the

LPRng and SAMBA
First of all, thanks to everyone who has helped me out so far resolving
my samba problems!
The latest has to do with LPRng and directory permissions. LPRng
requires 0600 permissions on the spool directory, owner daemon group
daemon. Whenever a user tries to print through SAMBA, they do not have
write access to the spool directory, as teh job comes in user/group of
the person who printed. Any

Win2K sp4 can't print
Hi,
I just installed 2 Win2K sp4 workstations on an otherwise working Samba 2.2.8a
network and 2 of the 3 printers are showing "Access denied". What's up with that?
The other computers that are working just fine are Win98, XP and Win2K NOT sp4.
Here is part of the global section:

Your message Re: Samba and printer comments (July 5 1999)
Yes unfortunately I do not have much luck recieving help from the SAMBA
mailing list.
After much playing I found something weird that was seemingly causing
incorrect comments. Most printers would recieve the comment - "no
entries" which originally I assumed to be the default comment given by
Win95 when it could not get a proper comment. However I later found
that this is not the case.
