samba, RH7.3 and windows NT/2K/XP problem?
Hi, We have a couple of RH7.3 systems. Both have samba installed and they were running well before. Now, one system's samba shows a problem after the system rebooting yesterday. Samba is still running and all windows 95, 98 users can access this RH7.3 system without any problem, but windows NT/2000/XP users cannot access it now. Before the rebooting, all windows (including nt/2k/xp)

I have been working with samba trying to get PDC functionality out of it. I tried first - version 3 from samba.org then I tried the samba that comes with rh7.3 and the last version I have been trying to get to work is the latest samba-tng. It has been straight forward getting file sharing to work, but the PDC part just won't work. I can manaully create a machine account on the linux box

Lab manager for Xen
Hi, [1] I have spent time learning Xen, as compared to Vmware. Is there an opensource tool for managing the various Xen domains both locally and remotely ? It can be commandline or GUI based. VMware has a Lab Manager. I am looking for something similar (or superior) for Xen too. [2] Redhat has the virt-manager. And allows us to connect the hypervisor to local host and remote host. How does that

Stumped at "Network Neighbourhood", Samba server is visible, but it's path can't be found ...
Hi all, I can see the RH7.3 linux box I've configured with the latest Redhat RPM samba package in the Windows 2000 network neighbourhood, but when I double click the W2000 computer icon I get the message "\\Linuxbox is not accessible, The network path was not found." The network is a small switched lan, sadly with only one unix box (RH7.3) and a mixture of Windows2000 and 98

Kindly advice. Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

owner and group permission
Sirs, We've just successfully upgraded our samba server from 2.0 to 3.0. Access from windows clients and linux clients particularly RH7.3 and RH9.0 has no problem accessing the files and saving them. Unfortunately, we also have Mandrake and Knoppix workstations and in which we're having problems on the mounting of the samba shares. Mandrake and Knoppix basically uses the original

I have 2 machines, one installed RH7.3 (IP ADDR. =10.1.45.12, host name = fk0000-msi-srv) and the other one, Mandrake8.2. (IP ADDR. = 10.1.45.13) Both machines use Samba 2.2.3a. More than one logon script, can I have?
Hi, RH7.3, Samba 2.2.8a, Win2KSP4 clients... I was just wondering, I know I can have a logon script based on a machine name, on a group, a username, etc., but am I able to actually have a combination of the above? I would like to have a standard group logon script (which I currently do have), but I would also like an extra script to run if they log on to particular machines under my domain...

Quick Question
Apologies if there is a cleanly written and searchable FAQ that I could be directed to. I have no problem to RTFM if I can find the FM... Does Asterisk currently operate under RH9? I have IBM Netfinity 4000R servers that do not support X windows under RH8.x and I prefer not to go back to RH7.3... BTW, where would I find a useful FM? David -- David J. Sussman, MBA email:

WINS servers and browsing
Well, I've asked a couple times already but I will ask one more, since I still havent' managed to get any further. We have several sites. Each site has it's own network and domain. We are connected via a WAN. Is the best practice to have one WINS server for each site? Or is a single WINS server for the WAN the way to go? Right now I have a single WINS server for the WAN. I CAN NOT

Re: CentOS 3.4 Single CD "Server" version
Hey, Lance mentioned yum group install. This yum group capability makes the "server" CD's more versatile than the name implies -- you only need a broadband connection to get any kind of CentOS install you want. Start with a minimal install off the CD, and then use the yum group install to conveniently get the same install you could get off the 3 CD set (only more up to date).

Thanks Samba Community!!!
You folks are the greatest. Rolled out my first Samba "member server" today. Read the stuff from SWAT, and it worked the first time on RH7.3, after it failed on RH8 You folks are the best, we're struggling to stay afloat and M$ squeezes us for more. (RH is pushing me to Debian by the day!!!) There will be a lot more Samba in the farm soon. My deepest grattitude. Respectully,
