I am currently running Samba 2.2.5-10 as a Primary Domain Controller and have a number of shared drives with a variety of differing users and user rights all over the place. AWDwR typography question
So, I''ve been listing to stuff folks have been saying about the Bookman font we use. Most people like the font, but some feel there aren''t enough words/line, so your eyes move too much. So, I spent the weekend playing with typography, and I''ve come up with a compromise. The thing is: it looks good to me, but I don''t want to mess up the read for others

How to specify fonts
In Splus, if I wanted to use Bookman-Demi instead of the default Helvetica, I would specify font = 18 as a graphical parameter for a postscript printer. In R it seems font can take only the values 1 to 4 which change only the style but it's still Helvetica. There's some great flexibility using Hershey vector fonts, but it appears they are all mono-spaced. I wish to use proportional

SIP phone w/ XML browser
Still looking for cheaper (under $250,-) alternative to cisco 7940 with features needed for corporate use, mainly: - shared phone book (e.g. via LDAP or XML browser in phone) - in-line power - missed/dialed/received numbers - integrated switch (voice VLAN support) I found only aastara/sayson phone (and Intracom/Netphone in the past), that has xml services anounced, but still not available, so

vcpupin vs taskset performance difference
Hi all, I am trying to run some performance tests using libvirt 1.2.17. For these tests it is necessary to set a specific affinity for the VCPUs of a running VM. The problem is, that I noticed a significant performance drop in my metrics when using 'vcpupin' from the virsh console instead of running 'taskset' natively. Specifically the methods I am comparing are 1.

A small example for rails newbie :)
Hi all, I am new to ruby and to rails, as previously said. So I have written a small CRUD application for archiving books. It is called BookMan: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/cat/bookman/ Bookman is postgres and oracle-compatible: you will find two set of scripts for creating the tables and for populating them with a minimal set of data. TO DOWNLOAD: You can find BookMan on

General Security Issues
Greetings list, As a newbie to security I would like to ask any recommendation that the list might have. We are about to "install" a new box with 4.9 stable to the nice and innocent internet world. :-P The box has no services running expect apache and we telnet to it via SSH. Main function of this box will be graphing various interfaces via rrdtool. So, I would like to ask if there is

Would you expect --perms -M--fake-super to set the file mode to the original one?
Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad to see that different people see the issue differently. As a followup question, what would you expect this to do: rsync --perms --chmod g+rX -M--fake-super src dst I would expect it to store the original permissions in the xattr, while modifying the real file mode according to the chmod.
