problem with NT-4.0
Hello, we have a Linux box running Samba 2.2.7a and several clients
running Windows NT 4 WS (last service pack) and Windows 95 (last service
pack too).
All clients are running a program made in ACU-Cobol for Windows and
sometimes the NT machines abort the execution reporting a cobol blocking
error. This usually results in broken indexes...
We have traced the execution and haven't found the

Directory perms not visible from Properties|Security on clients
Samba 3.0.7, XP Pro SP1 clients
When I view the "Properties|Security" tab on a folder from my XP SP1
clients, the checkboxes indicating the various permission settings are
all empty.
The share is functioning fine otherwise, permissions are OK when
inspected from the Unix side.
Does anyone know a work around (or fix!)?

vfs_get_ntquota() failed for service
Hello all,
I have a problem with samba 3.6.6 on a Debian 7 . It floods the daemon log file with this error: vfs_get_ntquota() failed for service [DevSfrCloud]
I notice that it may be the reason for a lag time when making file operations like updating a tree from subversion. I didn't find any answer searching on google.
Is anyone can explain me how to stop this check of quota?
I tried to

Writing operations to a Samba share fail
Hi,
I have a problem with Samba occasionally starting to fail with any write
operations to a public share. When Samba is started clean, everything
works OK. Then at some stage some users start to experience errors
trying to write into a share. At the same time other users may not
perceive any problems.
smb.conf or any other configurations of the server hasn't been changed

Adobe Photoshop problem with saving on Samba shares
We are experiencing problems with Adobe Photoshop and Samba, all
versions up to 2.0.6. We run Samba off Compaq Alphaservers (ie 64 bit).
Symptoms:
1) On doing a "Save As" in Photoshop, we intermittently get:
"Could not save as F:\<filename> because the file is already in
use or was left open".
A zero length file is left on the Samba share.

Gentoo Linux, recently updated (emerge --sync ; emerge -u --deep world).
kernel 2.4.26. Samba 3.0.10. lprng 3.8.27.
When I print a test page from WinXP-Home, it appears to accept it.
However, it doesn't create a spool file and then when samba runs my lpr

ZFS ACL Support
Hello,
I am running Samba 3.0.28 on a Solaris 10 8/07 x86_64 machine.
Directory services and authentication are provided by MS Active
Directory's LDAP and Kerberos.
My problem is that, when attempting to add an ACE to a file from Windows
(XP, SP2), I get an error saying "Access Denied". The share is a
directory on a ZFS filesystem (NFSv4 ACLs). Below is the share definition:

Problem copying large file from Win2K box to Samba share on Linux box
I've got an aggravating problem as described in the subject line above.
I have a small home network with a Linux box running Samba and acting as both
local and domain master browser and WINS server. Also on the network are a
desktop PC (Dell 1.4 GHz P4) running Windows 2000 Professional and a laptop
running Windows XP Professional.
The problem occurs when I try to copy a file over 1 MB

Samba 3 joined to samba 4 - problems with permissions on S3 server
Hi all,
I am testing samba3 joined to a samba 4 domain controller.
Most things appear to be working okay - just not printer drivers and
file permissions.
Machines can join the domain and use resources on the Samba 3 server, etc.
I can change permissions to my hearts content on the Samba4 shares, just
not Samba3.
I cannot however set any permissions on shares or add printer drivers to
the Samba

Permission denied when opening certain files - NT_STATUS_NOT_A_REPARSE_POINT
Hi,
I am experiencing a strange issue on our Samba PDC (3.0.24). Today I
got called up by a user who was unable to open certain files from a
samba share. He can open .doc, .xls, .pdf, etc. just fine, however, if
he tries to open a .mdb file or an executable program from that share,
he gets a permission denied message. Opening the same files from
another user account logged into the same

Hi everybody,
i'm getting mad configuring samba to join an ADS, resolve domain
users and groups and set ACLs via windows explorer on a share mounted

At the point where i am, i've managed to get Samba join correctly the
domain with idmap_rid backend working fine.
I can correctly set (add, remove, modify) file acls and extended
attributes
