1. What version of samba? You should be trying 2.2.5 or 2.2 6 for one of the more stable winbind releases. 2. Are you running NIS? Try changing the winbind separator to _ (underscore) 3.. Hi All: I have googled, etc but cannot find the answer to this issue. I have a couple users that belong to a lot of global groups (trying to do a clean up but that isn't going as fast as I want it. So...) My issue: When I id a user as root, I see tall of the groups he/she belongs to. IE: Group in question - 10849(group19). However, when I su as that user, the groups stop at 10215(group1).

How does one move from a rpm based samba to tar.gz? In other words how do I upgrade from samba-2.2.1a-4 to samba-2.2.6.tar.gz. Do I remove samba : rpm -e samba?
