Roaming profiles problems Samba 3.0.2a / Win XP Pro/Win2K
Hi guys, I'm experiencing seemingly random problems using roaming profiles with Samba 3.0.2 on Debian Woody and clients being Win XP Pro and Win2K (all of them running the latest service packs and critical updates and so forth). Sometimes when one of the machines tires to login the server profile can't be found. The error Windows comes up with is "Network name cannot be found."

I have poured over the smb.conf files and cannot see what it preventing the one from crossing segments. These both are Debian 2.2 boxes and I am just modifying the default smb.conf files. I am hoping a fresh pair of eyes will help. Any help would be greatly

root postexec issue on both Samba 3.4.5 and 3.0.28
Hi, there I'm using Samba 3.4.5 and 3.0.28 on RHEL 5.2, and I noticed that on both samba servers 'root postexec' script in [netlogon] is executed automatically when logged in for around 11 minutes. This makes me crazy to track when a use is logged out. The man page smb.conf.5 says: " postexec (S) This option specifies a command to be run whenever the service is

KDE and mounting CD's / DVD's without noexec
Hi e, I am normally use gnome and would do the following to make my CD / DVD mount with exec gnome-mount --write-settings --device /dev/sdc0 -o exec What is the equivalent in KDE ? My initial research suggests that I actually have to write a custom udev rule to achieve this. This has led me as far as running udevinfo -q path -n /dev/scd0 udevtest /block/sr0 (the output is below) My

pre-/postexec in printers-section
Hi, after updating our printserver from Samba V2.0.6 to V2.2.7 I encountered the following problem. Samba does not execute the (root) pre- and postexec within the printers section. If you are using these command in another section everything works fine. root prexec/postexec & login scripts
I have a perl script that I'd like to use to create windows 9x login scripts at login time but I cannot get the process to work right. I have RedHat 7.3 (actually the k12ltsp v2.1.0 which is a modified RH7.3) set up as a domain controller which is working well. Manually created login scripts run fine on the workstations at login. I'm using a netlogon script I found at

Problems with SATA DVD+-RW drive
I just got a Dell Dimension e521 (AMD 64 x2, nVidia MCP51 chipset) and so far it has been fine. Today I tried to burn some CD-R and DVD-R disks and have been able to do nothing but make coasters. The drive is a TSST TS-H653a (Samsung OEM) and does have the current firmware. Playing back data, audio, and video disks work just fine, but recording is a different matter. The drive shows up as

Running system: SuSE 7.2 (kernel 2.2.4) & samba-3.0.0beta1. There is coexisting Win(Millennium) system at the server (reason: many win partitions MUST be directly available at the central unit under windows after rebooting to windows). People connect their laptops (with small HD and Win2k SP2) to central unit and samba offers shares with Linux accounts. However, there are many win
