Winbind!
Hello, I am running Red Hat 7.3 Samba 2.26 and winbind. I have been able to join the domain and test all of the following with these commands. All works great. winbind -u winbind -g getent passwd getent group But when I set up a share to test with one domain user account it just presents me with a password dialog box and does not accept anything. It should not prompt me but if it does

RE: Can you assist me? I have seen yours and Jennifer Fountains corr espondence
1. What version of samba? You should be trying 2.2.5 or 2.2 6 for one of the more stable winbind releases. 2. Are you running NIS? Try changing the winbind separator to _ (underscore) 3.. Did you put winbind in your nsswitch.conf file? If so, did you force the system to re-read that info (happens automatically on solaris, must run nsadmin restart on Irix, don't know about other

Freebsd + Puppet 3.2.2 pkg_add -f ?
Shouldn''t pkg_add be using the -r option for package management? I worked around by forcing the client to use ports instead, but it stinks. Any thoughts? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to

wanting to pkg_add KDE/Gnome post-install
After installing a text-based development environment via /stand/sysinstall (followed by CVSup, makeworld/kernel etc to 4-8-stable), I realize I want to install KDE, too. I initiated this with: pkg_add -r kdebase followed again by CVSup etc. Apparently that wasn't enough. Am getting message "XFree86 setup utility.. not installed" when trying to config xf86config (text-based) via

setting environment variables
Hi all, I''m running Puppet on FreeBSD and recently I started building my own packages. I would like to set the PKGROOT variable on all hosts so that packages are fetched from my server instead of freebsd.org. Is it possible to set this with puppet? I''ve read the suggestion on Trac [1], and it solves the problem when puppet is run with an rc script, but it won''t work

packages (binary) update best practice
Hi all, I have update recently to freebsd 9.1 via freebsd-update and I was quite happy with the process and the instructions on freebsd-handbook, I think well documented. But I would like to understand what is the best practice to update the ports too as I used the package tools (pkg_add -r) to add few package to the base install. Keeping in mind my server have disk space constrain (small disk

WoW on Ubuntu 10.04
Hi, some time ago i've installed WoW in Ubuntu 9.10 using wine 1.1.42 (wine1.2 ubuntu package). Everything fine, had a few fps problems but with some tips found in wowwiki i've manage to increase fps to about 20. Some users would say it's still low, but i was happy with it. Well, some weeks ago i've updated to Ubuntu lucid (10.04). It's great, but my WoW fps drop down to about

Re: Warhammer Dark Crusade: scroll map with mouse
Man....what a mess. As Tau, I could barely get through the map, gritting my teeth with every mouse click, hoping they'd survive. If the Dino died, I was toast. This was one map I just could not excel as the Tau. But as Space Marines, the mission ended in 15 mins. 2 Land Raiders, 2 Tanks and the "oh crap!" Grey Knights + Terminators + Assault Terminators made the Orcs their personal

10.0 BETA3 - nanobsd.sh does not use pkg
Hi, all, I just wanted to report that. I do not yet have a patch to suggest. nanobsd.sh cust_pkg() still tries to call pkg_add and fails when adding packages to the NANO_WORLD_DIR. tbz vs. txz ? Loc function in R??
Does anyone know which function (if any) will return the index of the true locations in a Boolean vector? For instance: A=c(1,3,5,7,4); B=c(2,4,77,3,3); X=A<B; So X is: > X [1] TRUE TRUE TRUE FALSE FALSE I'd like to know if there is a function that will tell me the locations of where the TRUE values are? for instance a vector that will list that the locations are at

Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility - mini-pci wireless card 1390
Is there any way I can find a driver and/or get the above wireless card working in CentOS 5 on my Dell laptop (Inspiron 1501). I've installed ipw2200 from RPMForge, but it now appears that this won't work because the card is not an Intel PRO/Wireless card. Dell seem to support only MS Windows Vista now so I don't think there's much chance of getting a driver from them - so am I on

large dataset!
Hi, I need to analyze data that has 3.5 million observations and about 60 variables and I was planning on using R to do this but I can't even seem to read in the data. It just freezes and ties up the whole system -- and this is on a Linux box purchased about 6 months ago on a dual-processor PC that was pretty much the top of the line. I've tried expanding R the memory limits but it
