W2k/w98 don't see printers on samba-3.0.0beta2/3 in "Add Printer" dialogue
Hello, I've tried both samba-3.0.0beta2 and beta3 but both give me the same problem. When on a windows dekstop and trying to add a printer with samba as the printserver , the printers exported by the samba server are not seen by the windows "add printer dialogue" e.g.: relevant part of smb.conf: ----------------------------------- load printers = yes printing = cups

ipsec problem
Hello all together, I've got here a very strange problem. I've set up a vpn with freeswan between two subnets over the internet. Now I can ping from behind to behind. With Windows 98 I can search a computer which is in the other subnet and find the the computer. But...only the other computer is NOT a samba server. Means a w2k or w98 is ok. If I'm looking for the samba in the other

Access to Samba server across subnets
Hello all, I'm using samba 2.2.7a with winbind on a RedHat 7.3 (pre-installed by Dell) server, with an NT PDC/BDC, with the NT PDC acting as the WINS server. Everything works fine on the local subnet 192.168.0.xxx, but we also have an IPSec VPN set up with our western call centre, and users on the western office subnet 192.168.10.xxx can't login to the samba shares. They can login to

user on W2K SP2 SERVER cannot auth on samba PDC (but W2K WS yes)
Client = W2K OS Server SP2 but not server for anything except a shared software. (I didn't run dcpromo) I've just built a brand new domain with samba as PDC. I did not have any problem with W98, NT WS, NT Server, 2K WS and XP WS. All of these joined the domain successfully and users are happy. But, a user in the company runs a W2K SP2 os SERVER as workstation. There was no

W2K PDC Domain
I can not add a W2K computer to my newly created SMB PDC. I get the error message: the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials on SAMBA 2.2.7 and "The account used is a computer account. Use your global user account or local user account to access this server." on SAMBA 3.0.0. On W98 I am able to logon to the domain, but unable to execute the map logon

rsync hangs on w2k server running cygwin
Hi, I'm having trouble getting a clean run of rsync on a w2k server running cygwin. Basically, it appears that the commands are running to completion (i.e. files are being copied) but the command does not return to a command prompt (or continue to the next command when run via a script). The machine is a w2k server completely up-to-date with all service packs (SP2) and updates. I have just

Windows 2000 crashes
We used samba 2.0.6 under Redhat 6.1 with W98/NT4 clients without any problems. Now we upgraded one PC with Windows2000. In the beginning everything worked fine. But suddenly there are problems: Browsing a specific subdirectory of a share on the server cause a inmediate crash of W2k with a automatic restart. I upgraded to Samba2.0.7, again W2k crashes. I connect to this subdirectory from a

Linux ACLs and samba access from W2K
I have just installed samba on one of my linux boxes with acl support and while I can view and modify existing entries with the sercurity properties in explorer on W2K, I cannot add an entry for a new user. I should say that the user database on the linux box comes from NDS and nisplus, although local users in /etc/passwd do not work either. When I try to add an entry, it gives me a list of all

2.2.3a multiple users from w2k term server denied access
Hiya! Running Samba 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11.0, precompiled binaries from Porting Centre. Everything works fine until we have a customer that wants to put their app on w2k terminal server. When the drives get mapped they are serviced by the same smbd daemon on the UNIX box; this is the same behavior as if you mapped the same drive twice from any windows client. After 2 or 3 users get drives mapped,
