csc policy
Hello you all,
we are in the process of upgrading to windows 10 on all our
workstations. We see one problem with redirected folders. We redirect
Appdata to a network share.

csc policy = disable

CSC-policy and offline files
I have not been able to find anything similar to this in the archives...
So, can anyone help me out with the csc-policy? What version of SAMBA was
this introduced in? I am currently running 2.2.3 and am finding that some
of my XP users as well as one W2K user are running out of disk space on
their machines - their client side caches are filling up. The folders that
they are syncing to on the

Thunderbird, CSC and files/folder...
[ I don't think it is a samba trouble, but indeed some clue... ]
A user of mine have a rather complex Thunderbird local folder email
archive, in a network folder (P:\Mail), with CSC enabled (it is a
portable system).
Rather frequently (at least once a week) in the share a 'disk folder' (a
directory) with the same name of the 'file' of the email folder get created.

Initializing SparseM matrix matrix.csc
Hi!
Would like to initialize a huge matrix.csc (Pacakge SparseM) with all elements 0
and afterwards set a few alements nonzero.
The matrix which I like to allocate is so huge that I can not use
A <- matrix(a,n1,p)
before:
A.csr <- as.matrix.csc(A)
because I can not allocate such a huge matrix A.
But I believe that the much more memmory efficient model in case of csc matrix should do it for

Install with 64-bit GCC 3.2 (PR#2048)
Hi,
been trying to build R-1.5.1 for som eof our users here.
No probs with gcc-3.2 32-bit installtion, but thought we'd try it with

Install with 64-bit GCC 3.2 : FIX (PR#2049)
I was able to get it all to compile by altering the
src_dir/etc/Makeconf file so that the shared lib LD flags
variables contain -m64
SHLIB_CXXLDFLAGS = -G -m64
SHLIB_LDFLAGS = -G -m64
these only had "-G" by default.
Dunno why they dont pick them up as part of the standard configure
though - one for you I guess !

extracting r-sq from lme model
I've been using the nlme library to construct lme models and I'd like to
extract an r-sq value for the model - how do I do this?
With glm I just used the reported (null deviance-deviance)/(null deviance).
Deviance is not reported directly for lme nor can it be extracted using the
deviance() function. How do I work out the deviance or can I work out R-sq
in some other way?
Thanks,
Yvonne

GPU packages and 'Debian R Policy'
Hi there,
Moving this request for info over from an R-HPC-SIG list thread as
the issue is less HPC than something that has bitten me as a result
of trying to install HPC (read CUDA) R packages.
Background to this is that I have both a Ubuntu host for a Tesla card
that some researchers are looking to do CUDA-related R computation on,
and a prototype, RHEL-based, cluster that is being used to

csc policy
Hai Christion,
So yes, i told you this once before it better to setup the windows acl.
And yes, but these days in win10 everything is more picky on correct settings.
Set/verify you profile share again, but setup windows ACL's. not POSIX acls.
See: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles
Goto : Setup : Using Windows ACLs
And dont look below this line on the

Need DETAILED help using p2v
This is something I want to do over my holiday vacation to continue to broaden my skills.
I am experimenting (learning) about moving a Win7 physical drive to a VM under my CSB. I'm struggling a little on the steps when using our RH documentation (perhaps it is clear if you are an RHCE but it isn't to someone trying to learn from it initially combined with Google searches) so asking if

Syntax for iter.max in rms
Hello,
I would like to increase the number of iterations for running a
Buckley-James regression model in the rms package, but something is
apparently syntactically wrong. The following code initially is
exactly as it appears in the help page (which runs successfully), then

stories with selenium and the db
Hi all
Tonight I wanted to test out selenium in a story to test some ajax
stuff on a page.
After struggling for an hour or two with disappearing database objects
I found the solution in a blog post by Kerry Buckley.
with the comment included it reads:

Thunderbird, CSC and files/folder...
Hi,
In my experience Thunderbird does not work on a directory that has
CSC/offline files in use without major problems.
We use shares that have no offline caching in use for Thunderbird
profiles, and those work only when the user is online.
Whent that is not an option: put your profile on %localappdata% with no
synchronization at all. As long as you access mail only via imap (no
pop3) and you

Dtracing scsi
A small script to see what SCSI commands are being issued by a system:
http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/chrisg?entry=scsi_d_script
Still work in progress as I needs to handle larger CDBs but it is a start, since I don''t have a disk that big it is not a problem for me yet.
Also getting the return scsi packet is a hack but so far I can see no alternative short of knowing about all the
