Samba 3.0.21b winbind crash
I'm using Samba 3.0.21b on SuSE 9.3 Pro (x86) with the binary RPMs from samba.org/suse.com (3.0.21b-1.1.2-SUSE-SL9.3) on a Domain Member Server in ADS mode with winbind against W2K3 SP1 AD servers and idmap uids/gids stored in a central OpenLDAP directory.
Unfortunately, winbind gives me a hard time and reproducibly dies with a PANIC on a "wbinfo -g", although I think I've

Problem IDMAP Domain Member -> PDC
hi
im using precompiled samba v. 3.0.4 packages from SuSE 9.1 DVDs
all services (ldapsam, winbind, ... ) are compiled in
user mapping on the PDC "SERVER" (SID-RID to UID) work fine
the domain member server "FILESERV" gets the local accounts via
nsswitch from the ldap backend of "SERVER"
(tested with getent passwd)

need some assistance - Samba 3.09 on FreeBSD 4.5
Hello,
I've been able to get Samba up and running, it joins the ADS domain
fine. It appears in the network browser on our Windows machines but when
anyone attempts to access a restricted share it fails to authenticate
them. I say restricted because if anyone accesses an open to everyone
share it works.
I'm trying to get the entire thing setup so that the Samba server is

Samba 3.0.2a - Erroneously rejects NTLMv2 but accepts NTLM
Hello experts,
I?ll try and keep this brief but detailed (if that?s possible.). I?m sure I
don?t understand the technologies sufficiently but I believe I?m seeing
counter-intuitive behavior with my Samba 3 setup. What I want is nice,
tight Win 2K3 security. What I?ve got is ADS integration, including domain
user authentication using winbind, but I can?t get the security level right.

WinXP SP2 winlogon.exe blue screen to death
Hi there,
I have another problem on WinXP SP2 with samba.3.0.20a. Somehow, in a random
situation, once user logged onto the workstations, they were prompted with
the winlogon.exe Fatal error + blue screen to death then self-reboot. When I
checked out the log from windows, it said there's problem on msgina.dll from
WinXP SP2. However, another user can successfully logon to the same
workstation

Hi All
We have the following problem:
We configured samba with LDAP and this works fine. As soon as they try to login wit a user who is member of 15 groups, it takes very long to login with Windows and then an mostly an errormessage appears.
On win 2000 is the error: There has been made a change to the server. Contact you sysadmin

winbind / sid problem.
Hello all,
I have a strange problem that I'd like advice on. Here I run
several samba servers as home directory and print servers for an NT 4.0 (sp6a)
domain. The domains relevant to this problem are CANNING and STUDENT.
The STUDENT domain trusts users in the CANNING domain.
My samba server is RedHat 6.2 (+ updates) running samba 2.2.7 (built today).
I upgraded because of a different

Re: Trusting and trusted domain (home mapping) problem
Hi Igor,
Thanks so much for troubleshooting all this while and we found out none of our configuration is the problem but the source code. Hope that the samba team will modify to a working code so that I can deploy it.
Actually my dateline to deploy is coming soon and I do not know what to do now..... when do you think the code will be modified and be released?
Thanks so much for your help.

limiting access with win groups
I want to limit access to shares via windows groups but when I set a
share to anything other than 'valid users = %S' or 'valid users =', I
cannot access the share. The error message indicates that the share is
not accessible and I may not have sufficient permissions. If I change
just the valid users in smb.conf and restart smb, I get right in without
prompting. I also found that I

Active directory and trusted domains
I setup Samba a while ago in an active directory environment.
There are many trusted domains (with a very lot lot of users and computer
account), but i (my users) used only one, and all worked just fine
Actually, some from others domains needs to connect to my shares. And even
if i do not setupe any users, they cannot.
So here are some few questions :

Network_access_denied and no group in domain
Was: RE: [Samba] samba 3.0 and freebsd 5.1
Hi Aaron,
I deinstalled the 3.0.1 port and got the source tarball for 3.0.2a and
installed from there. I also swapped out 3.0.1 for 3.0.2 on the domain
controller when I discovered the second problem.
I can now use smbclient to log into a file share on the member server,
giving an " smb: \> " prompt but doing ls gives an error of:

Interdomain Trust, wbinfo works on both servers, getent doesn't work on one server
Hi
I have a problem with an interdomain trust where on the PDC for DomainA,
everything works perfectly. getent returns local and DomainB usernames.
On the PDC for DomainB, it's DomainB works fine, but getent only returns
local usernames and groups, it doesn't return the usernames or groups for
DomainA. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work fine and return all DomainA's
usernames and groups.

FW: getent & winbindd on FreeBSD 5.4
I posted my original post to FreeBSD-questions@freebsd.org and since then
have had a running dialog with another poster. It now seems I am having
trouble with the NSSWITCH function. I am now reporting back to the Samba
list in hopes someone can help me out at this point.
Can anyone help me out here?

wbinfo_group.pl / wbinfo -r not working!
Hello,
I have been using samba to authenticate my squid users to Active
Directory. Because of the amount of users, I would like to set up my
ACL's based on groups, rather than individual user accounts.
I have successfully joined my samba box to our windows domain (2k).
For some reason I had to enter the domain controller name instead of
the domain name when doing so. I am now having issues
