Need suggestions for choice of print services for Samba
I've installed Red Hat 7.3 (2.4.18-3) with Samba 2.2.3a as a standard install. I can access Samba (running as a workgroup server) from several Win clients. The Samba server is going to act as a very simple file and print server for about 10-20 users with no complex authentication or features. Can I get suggestions on which Linux print server I should run. The office has two HP Laser Jets

Slow transfer file between Windows and Samba PDC (2.2.3a)
Hello everyone I have a quite weird problem, and I've try a lot of possibility without any success. It's about file transfert beetween a Windows 2000/98/ME and a Samba PDC. Printer driver downloads...?
I've been googling around for quite some time, and haven't managed to find anything useful. Is there some moderately up-to-date information on how to set up the automatic print-driver download in Samba 2.2.x? I know about the "old way" of doing things, but it doesn't seem to fly with Win2K drivers. Any and all help, and pointers to FD so I can RTFD (again, haven't had

Broken Samba in OS X. Any Alternatives?
We all know that in Mac OS X 10.4, and in the upgrade 10.4.1, Apple managed to break Samba. Now, I am at a great loss for remote filesystem mounting. Not only is Samba broken, but NFS is questionable (I can never seem to get rid of that "incorrect username/ password" error and retain read/write abilities). Also, I'm have trouble with netatalkd for Debian. Are there any other

Users changing samba passwords directly from windowsclient
Hi! Why don't you check up the neat utility changepassword from http://sourceforge.net. It works just wonderfully for me and also is an Open Source package which can be modified for your needs. Users at my place didn't even know they were taking their files from a Linux system until I changed to name to Linuxserver... ;-) If any help is required on this or installation you can

cups printing
I have searched around the samba documentation, including the smb.conf man page, and have found nothing regarding the cups printing system except change printcap to cups. Now, I have done that, but printing still does not work. I need some types of details and a sample smb.conf and/or any other relevant documentation. Thanks much, George D. Plymale

Kernel#system Kernel#` - Is anyone using these in Rails?
Since my previous question didn''t get much attention, I thought I''d make the subject more expressive. I didn''t realize the list had this much traffic. Is anyone using system or "backquote" to run commands in Rails? These work fine in webrick, but both return nil when running in Apache FCGI. In CGI mode, system seems to work, but backquote doesn''t.

Can Asterisk hear on two IP addresses? And can I do routing for calls from private to public or public to private IP addresses
Hi List; Can asterisk hear (receive) calls on two IP addresses? How? If yes, then: If I have a VPN router, and my Asterisk server connected to two network cards, one has a private IP address (192.168.0.2) connected to the VPN router (192.168.0.1) and another network card has a private IP address (193.111.196.249) connected directly to the outside default gateway (193.111.196.240), where the VPN

Using private & public addresses together in the Shorewall''s DMZ zone
I have one question: Can I use routable and non-routable IP addreses together in the DMZ zone? I read the both three-interfaces setup and the Configuration Guide and each one explains how to do the either way? My problem is that, I have to use the public IP address for my DNS server (cannot change that), and setup additional web servers which will do port-forwarding (DNAT) through the firewall

Generating custom public/private keys
This may not be the run of the mill, but does anyone have any idea how to create keys that will work with the text I want in them. The reason I'd like to do this is that if a computer on the network has to be replaced due to a fault on it, I'd like to be able to just put the new key on the box without having to regenerate using ssh-keygen the keys for the entire network it is on.

DUNDi Public and Private Key Question
Hi All, I'm wondering if I use DUNDi in an enterprise environment, I own and manage all the servers, can I make 1 set of public and private keys and exchange them between servers or do I need to make a key for every server? Is there something with astgenkey/openssl that uses any server specifics to generate the keys or does the key generation seed from the [astgenkey -n "name"]
