Wierd error logging into Samba 2.2.5 from Winxp
Hello. I have a network with a server running Samba 2.2.5. I just recieved a laptop from Compaq with winxp on it. I already have a few winxp boxes on my network connecting to the Samba server just fine so I though setting up this laptop should be a breeze but after I change the required registry entries on this laptop (the "requires sign or seal registry entry to 0") It gives me the

When we start smbd, all works fine, everybody can conntect to the file server to mount the shares without any problems. After a while, nobody can connect to the server, smbd always answer

Two nmbd processes on 2.2.6
Hello, I have downloaded and compiled 2.2.6 to replace my 2.2.6pre. I spent a large part of the day debugging the startup script because it seemed to always be starting two nmbd processes instead of one. Eventually I tried running just /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd - and still got two nmbd processes. Is this correct behaviour? On the first server (Dell 4600) I thought it might be because it has

Problems with samba pdc and
I ran into a similar problem with one of my machines. I simply couldn't quite understand why it happened. I did destroy and recreate the machine account and it still persisted. I ended up changing the machine name and creating a new machine name for the system. That is the only fix that I am aware of at this time. RE: SWAT not working, can't authenticate
Did you make sure localhost resolves? Also, depending on your /etc/resolv.conf, you may have to fully qualify the host's name including the DNS domain. I seem to rember having problems with this, and some combination of using localhost or hostname.domain.edu or using the actual IP address of the host cleared up the problem. upsd/upsc, LISTEN and hostname resolution in master/slave
Manuel, I very much appreciate you taking the time to share such depth of experience, that makes a lot of sense and clearly things out very thoroughly. I will amend my ansible common playbook to get rid of that line and will test to see if I can find any problems elsewhere, but otherwise that sounds like the best solution. thanks again, Spike On Wed, Mar 29, 2017 at 12:11 PM Manuel Wolfshant

GLM dist Gamma-links identity and inverse
Dear users; I am doing GLMs with the Gamma distribution, and I always get errors ("no valid set of coefficients: please supply starting values") or warnings ("NaNs produced in log(x)") when I use the links identity or inverse, but I don´t get them if I use the log link. For example: >

thank you Arno, I'm with Manuel on the "IP address or hostname", maybe I didn't understand your previous explanation, but to me there's still a bigger issue/unclear behavior. Let's say I just installed ubuntu on a machine with hostname server1 and ip 192.168.0.1 . In /etc/hosts I end up with two lines (per

where is "average shifted histogram"?
Hello! In the book Modern Applied Statistics with S (4th ed), section 5.6 the concept of the "average shifted histogram" or ASH is mentionend. Also it is mentioned in the same section "The code used is in the scripts for this chapter" (from figure caption 5.8, analysis of the geyser duration data). *However*, I have trouble finding the code for that function! Admittedly, I am a

Which tree should I be barking up?
Running Samba 2.2.6 on RedHat 7.2 in a Microsoft NT4 Domain, trying to create or copy a text file to a share from a MS Windows 2000 Professional workstation (client2k) gives 'Access denied' Reading the log file (level 3) for samba.client2k (not an activity I feel much comfort in doing correctly) it looks like I am being recognized as a 'guest user' which is a problem but for
