printing problems and permissions
I've got Samba 2.2.3 running as a PDC for some Win9x and WinNT
clients. Everything seems to be fine except that occasionally (but
rather often, at least every second day) printing from one of the
NT-clients is impossible. In the log file it says (word wrap here in the
editor):
[2002/02/26 18:04:21, 0] printing/printing.c:print_job_start(952)

[print$] again
Some days ago, you helped me getting rid of old printer driver
information, that worked well. I have now setup a different printer for
the same network printer box, one that beautifully installs its drivers
locally with the Add Printer Wizard.
So I thought, why not try again and install the drivers to the samba
server? I followed the instructions in htmldocs/printer_driver2.html and
could copy

Hi Frank,
I have seen the same behavior and send a report to the list:

Maybe, you get a answer ...

Samba Roaming Profiles
Hi,
This is my first messegge to the list.
I need to migrate a Windows 2000 Server PDC to a Linux/Samba, and I readed a
lot searching for an answer.
My problem is with Roaming Profiles. The user can log on but the
configuration isn't the correctly one. The wallpaper, the mail storge, the
shortcuts, etc. are wrong.
May be is the ntuser.dat file that don?t work well.
What can I do?

Clustering dovecot?
Currently I have a mail server running postfix and dovecot with users
in mysql. I have Outlook (blich) clients checking IMAP mail on the
server. I'd like to build some fault-tolerance into that system in
case I have hardware failure.
I've read through: http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailLocation/SharedDisk
but I feel I need more information. My basic understanding is that

2.0.7 drives disconnecting
I am running Samba 2.0.7 under Solaris 2.5.1 (x86 and sun4).
Various shares are setup, which get connected when users log
on from their NT4 PC's. No problems as far as this group of
users are concerned.
We also have lots of users using Network Computers (NC's)
who log onto TSE/MetaFrame servers. Unfrtunately, these
bunch of users are encountering problems whereby some of
their drives

Standard SSH credential passing + get AFS PAG + token
These Scripts at location /afs/rrz.uni-koeln.de/wsadmin/contrib/ :
Init-ssh2
krb5gettoken
xauthrc
ssh2
enable credential (krb5 ticket) passing and get you a PAG and AFS token on
subsequent login. This should work with any ssh. NO patches.
Enjoy & send bugs/cents to: Laatsch at Uni-Koeln.DE

kill roaming profiles!
Greetings to everybody!
Is there any way to turn off roaming profiles and use only
local ones? In our company each of us connects to domain
from its own workstation, so as I can see there's no need
in roaming profiles.
Why I'm asking such weird question?
Because with roaming profiles Windows clients has readonly
profiles! With Policy Editor I made HKEY_Local_Machine
writeable,

The smbd ran away with the spoon...
It seems that my smbd process got fuxed somehow. It appears to have
take up all the file handles, and there were over 130 smbd processes
running on the system. I'm not entirely sure what happened. My first
thought is that something bad happened between the server and the
Windows client that's running Kaza (with a couple hundred mid-download
files) and it just spiraled out of control,

[PREVIEW] SmallCap
Somebody suggested SmallCap and that sounds great. This is by no stretch
of the imagination Capistrano, so it might better be named MicroCap but
it may be useful to some who have (as I do) modest needs in this regard,
especially for on-server versioning.
Here''s a preview of the usage:
Usage: ruby smallcap.rb [options]

Win XP Pro x64 and roaming profiles
I've recently connected a 64-bit windows box to my existing Samba-run
domain. In order to do this, I upgraded to Samba 3.0.23c. Most things
work fine. However, I'm having trouble getting the 64-bit box to
properly pick up the location of the roaming profile. I want the
profile to be stored in a directory in the user's home directory called
".profiles". However, 64

Error report on empty matrices (PR#435)
Dear R developers:
When using R.0.99a (Version 0.99.0 Patched (February 9, 2000), source
compiled with gcc under SuSE 6.2) on a PIII 500Mhz Machine under SuSE

rbind(x,2)
causes an R-crash with the message "Gleitkomma-Ausnahme" (floating point
exception) which is probably due to the non-applicability of the

Switching to another Samba server
I've been running Samba 2.2.2 for a while as a domain controller on my
mostly Windows network. It's been working great up to this point.
Anyway, I just put together a new Linux server and installed 2.2.2 on it
as well.
I copied the conf file and pretty much mirrored everything on the
existing server, changed the paths and the "workgroup" field in the conf
file to match the new

Problems with CUPS and a networked epson printer
I have an Epson Stylus Color 880, connected to our network via an
external ethernet printserver. I used to run lprng on the samba server
(which is a domain controller), and the Windows clients had one minor
problem accessing this printer via Samba (2.2.3a, then): Every time a
client wanted to print, the Epson status monitor on the client would
complain about communication problems with the

ssh_authorized_key loops when options is defined
Hi all,
I have no problem with creating ssh keys for users, but as soon as I
specify ''options'', puppet keeps repeating and replacing the key with
an identical key.
I have written the various options in various formats, like one big
strings, as an array, with double quotes or single quotes, etc, etc
(see examples below), but the issue stays
as a string ...
