Did you make sure localhost resolves? Also, depending on your /etc/resolv.conf, you may have to fully qualify the host's name including the DNS domain. I seem to rember having problems with this, and some combination of using localhost or hostname.domain.edu or using the actual IP address of the host cleared up the problem. Hello, i have a problem regarding upload/creating/deleting via ftp on smbmounted folder.. I have smbmounted a windows XP folder to my ftp. Hello all! We recently upgraded from Samba 2.2.3 to Samba 2.999+3.0.alpha20-3 on debian 3.0. Ever since then users are unable to change their own passwords on their W2k machine. What happens is when they try to change it a process (passwd) gets stuck with the users name. The only way to fix this is to kill the passwd process the user started.
