[PATCH 18/18] arm64: lto: Strengthen READ_ONCE() to acquire when CLANG_LTO=y
When building with LTO, there is an increased risk of the compiler
converting an address dependency headed by a READ_ONCE() invocation
into a control dependency and consequently allowing for harmful
reordering by the CPU.
Ensure that such transformations are harmless by overriding the generic
READ_ONCE() definition with one that provides acquire semantics when
building with LTO.

ov_clear(&vorbis) segfaults? (Backtrace and test case)
Well, I've done more work on this today and done the following:
-I simplified the test program to just under 125 lines of code.
-I discovered that the code works fine on my friend's Darwin machine.
-I discovered that the code works fine in my friend's i386 linux machine.
-I discovered that the code fails in ALL of my i386 redhat 9 machines.
(Even the ones where I've rebuilt

Comparison between Ogg Vorbis and LAME
Guys (and girls),
I\'ve been testing Ogg Vorbis quality at home, and I thought I\'d share the
results with you. For those who want the conclusion, Vorbis 1.0 RC3 sounds
better than LAME 3.70 vbr/cbr (which I\'m told now that it\'s broken for VBR), at
less bitrate, however, it\'s not perfect (and probably never will, since it\'s a
lossy audio codec) and could use some

Problem with Rsync or Users will be Users?
I'm using CWRSync 2.6.9 protocol 29 on a Windows 2003 Standard R2 server.
I'm trying to copy files onto a local usb harddrive.
Both filesystems are NTFS.
Rsync is failing to copy some files due to the file name length.
I kind of assumed that Rsync could handle the same file name length that
Windows users are allowed to enter. :-)
Is there *anything* I can do with Rsync to allow these

[PATCH] v2v: virtio-win: include *.dll too
Windows QXL drivers include also qxldd.dll which used to get filtered
out and not copied over into the guest. As a result QXL driver failed
to install due to a missing file.
Correct that, and update the tests accordingly.

Underwater in 10 - 20 seconds
I'm running a X100P connected to a POTS line and a TDMP400P w/ two FXS
daughter cards. Both calling out from one of the FXS phones (internally) or
calling my home number (externally) the FXO card starts to freak out.
By freak out I mean I can still hear but it sounds like you are underwater,
there is an annoying hiss or buzz on the line as well. If I hang up and pick
up another house phone

Boot fails in a VMware player VM - syslinux 6.03
Hi there,
I failed to boot an installer in a VMware player (Version6.0.3
build-1895310)
using syslinux 6.03, be it off an hybrid ISO image and an USB stick.
Booting succeeds if the VM is set to use a BIOS firmware with both media,
but fails using an efi firmware.
Trying to boot off the ISO image I get an error message "The firmware

Brillouin index
Dear colleagues.
I wonder if anybody knows about a procedure in R to calculate the Brillouin Diversity index.
I searched the net but did not find anything about it.
Thanks a lot for any help

Using speex (newbie)
Hi, i'm using speex in a conferencing application and i have a little problem. I encode single buffer of 320 byte (160 short) and send it to destination where
i play it. The problem is that between frame i hear a "tick" so, if i encode single frames, send it and play it, i heard like to be underwater (because there is a tick 8000/320 times/sec ), if i encode many packet all together

Icecast 2 questions.
Hi Michael!
I found those files and played with them. The live stream seems
good.
When I stream in mono/64 the sound is clean, but sending a playlist of
ogg files makes it all sound like it's underwater. :(
Maybe I have something messed up in the playlist config. It didn't
like when I changed it from 2 to 1 channels. I guess the samplerate and
channels is dependent on the ogg file

audio preprocess questions
Jean Marc,
I have been fiddling around with preprocess to try to get it sounding
less metallic/underwater- so based on some things said recently,
I have been first fiddling with mean_post and mean_prior to try to
get them to do change the update rate, so that update_noise gets
called at the right times.
Haven't made it too deep into the code, but I have a few
questions in speex_preprocess:

Basic Question about use of R
Dear Sirs:
I am not yet a user of R. My background includes the use of (Turbo)
Pascal for scientific analysis of underwater acoustics problems (e.g.
sound ray tracing and array gain in directional noise fields.)
I have become interested in the following type of problem:
(1) select , say, 1000 random locations within the continental United
States;

Questions about the denoiser
Hello, I have been working with the denoiser in the Speex
library and have a few questions.
Some information before I get started:
Speex version: 1.1.9 (as near as I could tell nothing new
in the denoiser in cvs)
Audio input: 32bit float - 48000 sample rate (the
input starts from jackd)
The first thing I am finding is that I can understand the audio in
