Suse 8 rpm
Dear All Does anyone have a distribution for Suse 8. I now have two servers running Suse and would like each machine to be part of the same "domain". Server1 is the domain master for my test domain - NTGX, but rather than maintaining a list if users and smbpasswd on each machine i'd like the second server to "have a copy" of what is on server1. I hope this is possible.

Samba 3.0.0 PDC, XP SP1, and domain joining woes.
Greetings, you kind and wonderful people. I've spent the past few hours or so (read: all day) attempting to get a basic PDC up and running, with no success. I've even gone to the extent of copying John Herpstra's config, which contains all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff, in the hope that he had something I missed. He didn't. I've got one box running debian testing, with

Dear SAmba Sorry to trouble you again but here is my problem. I want to have a directory writeable only for users in a unix group "accounts" so i need to do two things. 1. Create the group and user in linux 2. 1.9.18p8 won't act as PDC
I'm running Samba 1.9.18p8 on a RedHat5.1 system. Shares are going cleanly, but domain logons are not. I have an NT box, but as it is for a dedicated app, not for servers, I simply shut it down while testing samba's PDC functionality. I'll turn PDC off on the NT box as soon as I get samba doing domain controlling. I recently posted this problem with subject line: Samba 1.9.18p7-2

Retry: RedHat, XFS, and ACL Support
Purpose: Create a File Server that can replace our windows file server. System Details: RedHat 8 Kernel 2.4.18-18 SGI XFS 1.2.0 2 disks 1 for the filesystem ext3 1 for the shares using xfs Most of the threads and articles I read about doing this told me that I had to recompile the kernel for acl support. Then I found a post that mention that XFS has built in ACL support. Which

Cisco 7940 - Disappearing Clock - SOLVED
P.S. I _had_ read the other posts that suggest changing to unicast sntp mode. This didn't help. I eventually setup a new ntp server on my LAN, and used it as a sync source. Everything seems OK now. Obviously a problem with my other ntp server. Cheers. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Cisco 7940 - Disappearing Clock Date: Thu, 28 Jul 2005 11:50:35 +1000 From: Rod Bacon

Samba 1.9.18p7-2 PDC & netlogon? or p8? or wait?
I have a linux system running Samba 1.9.18p7-2 smoothly right now, with perhaps 600 users. I have an NT box with 2 users, for a dedicated application, which is a PDC right now. I have ~300 Win95 client machines that I want to have do a domain login, authenticating off the samba box (running RedHat 5.1, btw) so that I don't have to replicate users onto the NT box when all they really need to
