Best way to populate development database
What would be the best way to populate a development database for a Rails 3 app? I have looked at faker, but it seems that development has stopped, any other options? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. pblms with samba 2.X /3.x and NT--W2k
There is OBVIOUSLY something wrong somewhere. EITHER a WHOLE bunch of us are stupider than we thought, the documentation left off a step, or there is something SO blatently obvious that we are ALL staring it in the face and missing it inches in front of our faces. This is exactly what I've had, (BUT I *D*I*D* have it running ok ...) and I STILL havent figured it out yet,... Subject:

Samba 3 alpha19 - some testing results and problems
1. First of all, source/include/includes.h file contains wrong refence to file popt.h. In supposed to be "popt/popt.h" instead of "popt.h". After this correction source compiles OK. 2.After the installation on new alpha19 (I used alpha17 before) swat stopped authenticating (I use same credentials for Samba 2.2.5 and samba 3 swat). 3. Samba-3 shares are accessible through

Synchronising Japanese Characters in Rsync
Hi there, I have searched the rsync website, as well as an extensive search on google, but have been unable to come up with a definitive answer regarding whether rsync will synchronise files and directories which have Japanese characters in them. I am using an English language version of Linux, which has some directories shared via samba. Both English and Japanese language windows clients

Kristyan (and all) I just searched the samba website, and I couldnt find any reference to spnego except for a slide show (samba-lwny.ag ) that I can't open. ANYWAY. since I can't find any reference to the spnego parameter, could someone explain what it is, what it does, and HOW it can help us "stupid" people? It doesnt seem to be a parameter I've come across before..

Trouble with Skype
Hi, I've managed to get Skype running under Debian with the latest Debian release of wine. The sound is perfect, and there are no connection problems, but I noticed the following: 1) Sound from my microphone disappears ONLY when I start some other application or switch to another application. I can only vouch for this in KDE, and it happens whenever anything accesses the soundcard, so

Element not found
Hello, I installed samba4 alpha18 and I added a new share named ?test? in smb.conf. When I try to go to my server from Windows 7 client, I can see netlogon, sysvol and test. When I try to access to test, I have an error message : element not found. I can access netlogon and sysvol fine but the other shares I cannot access. I tried this : http://www.spinics.net/lists/samba/msg101309.html but I

Ubuntu compile/install location
Ok, while I'm usually more comfortable installing an RPM or DEB package and having the package maintainer handle all the details for me - I don't get a choice here. The latest Ubuntu 12.04 package is the Alpha18 release. So, I've compiled my own copy of Samba4.01 - and surprise, surprise, it went well. So the crux of the question is: Where should I install it to. [What directory.]

winbind+samba3.0 pdc on the same machine
Hi all, I am trying to install samba 3.0 pdc alongwith winbind on the same machine, the objective is to allow Squid to use ntlm_auth for samba users existing on the same machine. If I move squid to another machine, join this machine to samba3.0 domain and then use wbinfo, everything works fine. But when I install squid on the same machine as samba and then try to use wbinfo it fails. I get the

Intermittent failures mapping drives.. need debugging help/sugges tions
There is a problem with a user mapping a network drive. Sometimes he can map it, sometimes he can't. SAMBA: 3.0-alpha18 UNIX: HP-UX 11.0 rsc is a valid account on the machine he's trying to connect to (entry in /etc/passwd, decent permissions on home directory and all parent directories, etc.) The strange thing is sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't

Trying to debug a WinXP - Win2000 ADS problem.. HELP!
Sorry for the log log file dump, but while looking at some problems mapping drives, I've run across some stuff. Below is a chunk of my log when I successfully map a network drive from a WinXP client to a Samba 3.0-alpha18 server. The thing that bothers me is that it looks like my DOMAIN\USERNAME combination isn't being honored and I'm getting in based on a check to the locally

WinXP and Samba
After searching the archives here and at MS, have been unable to find a solution to this issue. When browsing the network using WinXP explorer, the network is clobbered by its search for desktop.ini files for each folder. I have 2 Samba servers (1 running 2.2.7 and 1 running 3.0.0). Everything works OK except for a slight delay in the initial directory display. When I looked at the network
