Samba 2.2.4 - files have disappeared!
Hello all. I have two linux machines, Red Hat 7.1 with kernel 2.4.9-34 (Red Hat stock), with Samba 2.2.4 installed. Both of these machines usa Samba to mount several shares from a common Windows 2000 server. These machines also run Courier IMAP. For those not familiar with email systems, Courier uses the "Maildir" method of email storage and retrieval; each message is stored as a

Strange log message
Hello all. Yesterday a curious error was logged by a Samba client running on a Red Hat 7.1 box runing Samba 2.2.4, and mounting shares hosted by a Win2k server: Jul 10 16:02:47 linux-two smb_file_read: cur/1025715495.1941.linux-two validation failed, error=4294967294 I searched through the mailing list archives and found a message detailing similar validation errors a person was

nfs question
Hello! We have central ldap for users, idmapd.conf configured on every machine and users' home folders on nfs, mounted by automount on several machines. After the last OS upgrade we notice that permissions on some files (not for all users) are corrupted: For example: -rw-r--r-- 1 4294967294 4294967294 45 Nov 11 21:20 hostlist drwx------ 2 4294967294 4294967294 4096 Jun 27 2012

[OT] Connecting to a Windows server via NFS
Hello, I realize this may be off-topic for this mailing-list, but at this point I am not sure where the problem is continue troubleshooting. We have a server that has Windows Unified Data Storage Server that is supposed the be able to provide NFS shares. I have attempted to setup a NFS share and I think I have it setup correctly on the server. I have the User Mappings created on the Windows

Cannot share RW, "Permission Denied" with sharenfs in ZFS
Hi everyone, I have just installed Solaris and have added a 3x500GB raidz drive array. I am able to use this pool (''tank'') successfully locally, but when I try to share it remotely, I can only read, I cannot execute or write. I didn''t do anything other than the default ''zfs set sharenfs=on tank''... how can I get it so that any allowed user can access

/var/log/lastlog on x86_64
Hi list, this problem is already known and I'm sorry to bother if an acceptable workaround was already debated on the list. I was getting trouble with a 'grep something /var/log*' which caused the "Memory exhausted" message. With some deeper search I found the lastlog file in /var/log/ to be 1.2T sized. This seems to come from the nfsnobody's uid to be 4294967294 on

drbd
so I've had a drbd replica running for a while of a 16TB raid thats used as a backuppc repository. when I have rebooted the backuppc server, the replica doesn't seem to auto-restart til I do it manually, and the backupc /data file system on this 16TB LUN doesn't seem to automount, either. I've rebooted this thing a few times in the 18 months or so its been running... not

[LLVMdev] [LLVMDev] Register Allocation and Kill Flags
I am wondering about register allocation when there is a kill flag on the MachineOperand. Do I need to remove the kill flag? This code below is just an example from test\CodeGen\X86\xor.ll # Machine code for function test3: Frame Objects: fi#-2: size=4, align=4, fixed, at location [SP+8] fi#-1: size=4, align=8, fixed, at location [SP+4] Function Live Outs: %EAX BB#0: derived from LLVM BB

Can't access a linux server using a Win2K client
Hello all. I am new to Samba, so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I have been unable to figure this out. I have a Red Hat 7.1 box (kernel 2.4.9) with the Samba 2.2.4-2 RPM installed. I am trying to configure it so that Windows 2000 machines within my company's Windows domain can access it. Before diving into anything exotic, I am trying to get this to work without requiring any

Linux server, Win2k client: Almost works, what am I missing?
Hello all. A couple of days back I posted a question about how I could get a Win2K client to mount a share from my linux Samba server. I was getting the familiar "account is not authorized to log in from this station" error on the Win2K box, despite a set-up that supposedly allowed guest logins *and* implemented the registry hack for clear-text passwords on the Win2k box. While I

win7 domain pc to standalone samba server
I'm trying to map a network drive using my workplace's Win7 laptop to a fileserver at home. The Win7 laptop is joined to the work domain. The fileserver is my own standalone fileserver, not joined to any domain, and is configured to be accessible to everyone without authentcation. I'm not able to get this to work, with varying error messages from Windows ("The account is not

Windows VBSscript and test.sh execution in /tmp/public in AIX 5.3
Hello, I am having a very speific problem with my samba interface. We just migrated to a new IBM pSeries server with AIX 5.3. The older server was a RS6000, with AIX 5.2 and everything I'm about to describe below worked without fail. We have a Windows 2000 Server that runs IIS. There is a web-based program (programmed in VB Script) that calls test.sh AIX script (through samba) on our AIX
