No print to Samba (Linux) printer from Win98
I'm stuck. I have Samba running on my Red Hat 7.2 Linux box. I can mount by remote dirctory on the Linux box via Samba. But I can't print to the Linux printer. I have a Linux printer installed and I can print to it using lpr. I have a printer configured in Samba and can see that from the Win98SE box. I've clicked on the Samba printer name and configured a Win98 printer.

No print to Samba (Linux) printer from Win98 - SOLVED.
I now have the deskjet print printing from my Win98 box. Something in the "hpdeskjet" entry was causing the error of "No machine name found" to appear when I tried to print from Win98. I fixed this by deleting the entry and re-creating it. I also specifically added allowed IP addresses instead of using "all" in the config file. I created a generic text printer

Win98/HP Printer problem. Partially Solved.
I set up a print/fax server here using RH Linux 6.0, and Samba 2.0.3. The printer is an old (but still very reliable) HP Laserjet 4. Printing from the Linux box using lpr works fine. However, whenever someone tries to print from a Windows98 box through SAMBA, there is an extra page printed on the end. This gets really annoying to the users, more so because the extra pages cannot be put back into

two printers: one works ok in w9x/2k, other printer unavailable in Win98 BUT ok in w2k!
Hi all, I try to explain my strange Samba problem: I've done a linuxbox with Mandrake 8.2 distro; installed Samba 2.2 packages and two printers attached via parallel port: one works with the motherboard built-in parallel port, the other is connected via a pci parallel port card. Both works fine on win2000 clients (and on the linuxbox, too :); on windows 98 clients, both printers are

Giving up on authentication to trusted domain
I've pretty much decided that this doesn't work, but I'd like to take this last opportunity to find out if ANYONE has a working configuration like mine: Samba server: v2.2.3a running on a RedHat Linux 7.2 system, plus Winbind. The Samba server is in the PHS-SC domain, and can be browsed from "My Network Places". User "cbenson" has an NT account in the FHCRC domain

Newbie:Family Tree Maker 2009 will not execute-Ubuntu Hardy
I'm new to linux so be patient. I'm running Ubuntu Hardy and have Wine 1.1.5 installed. After installing Family Tree Maker 2009 successfully, it will not execute. The screen comes up like it is going to start and says the database needs to be compacted and then the screen fades away. I decided to run FTM 2009 from the terminal and see what is happening. Obviously a lot of things.

Annonymous access guest ok = yes
I am trying to get some printer shares to be anonymous access. I have set guest ok = yes but from the log file, it looks like if a username is passed, and a failed lookup, it wont just default to annonymous. Is there another setting or configuration that I need to add to get it to work? LOG FILE: [2003/05/12 16:13:52, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:pdb_getsampwnam(939) LDAP search

Win2k explorer.exe dies when dealing with printers
Hi there. I've been some days dealing with printing problems in Win2k clients, having a Samba 2.2.5 parched with "parse_sec.patch" as a printer server. When I try to print anything, explorer.exe dies. Sometimes dies spoolsv.exe, or sometimes all the system locks (it may be because explorer do not restart). It happens to all my Win2k clients with Service Pack 2, and only when using

Can only print to the default printer
I am not sure if I am experiencing a WINE bug (I have looked through the bug reports but can't see this particular problem mentioned) or if this is a current limitation of WINE... I am using 64-bit Sabayon Linux (multilib) 2.6.36-sabayon kernel with CUPS 1.4.4-r2 and 32-bit WINE 1.3.4. I have several printers configured in CUPS. With native Linux applications I can select from each

Netlogon Not Executed on Win98 Client
Greetings, I have configured Samba 2.0.5a as the master domain controller in a Samba server / Win98 client configuration (no NT anywhere) and most everything works great. Users are authenticated and shares are browsable. I configured the [netlogon] share using the example from the Blair book. Right out of the block it worked like a champ. However, at some point the netlogon.bat stopped being
