Win2K Printer Driver Problems - Hi Jerry!!
Nope, close but no cigar. With 2.2.6Pre2 Word started to behave itself but Outlook acts as though landscape is a foreign concept(i.e everything prints portrait regardless of page setup). Spoolsv also crashes on the Win2K workstations requiring a manual restart of the spooler service. We will downgrade to 2.2.5 and try Jerry's patch. In another message Jerry talks about "running"

Memory Leak in 2.2.6rc2??
We upgraded to 2.2.6rc2 yesterday to continue our resolving of the printer driver problems. (Thanks Jerry & Rohin) For unrelated reasons I wanted to log into the machine late last night and found Putty couldn't connect. When I get in this morning the server was completely hooped with Out of Memory errors on the screen with SMBD as the offending process. Trying to log into any console

Can't do Landscape with ManualFeed
Hi: I am haviong problems with Landscape mode on our HP printers (many models). I am running 2.2.7a on two different servers. One is using the "old style" printing (using "printer driver file" parameter). The other is using the newer printing system. It is the same code on both. Both are Solaris systems. For the old one, the drivers are installed on the client, for the

The '<printer name>' printer driver is not installed on this computer
Hello everybody, I'm using CUPS 1.1.19 and Samba 2.2.8a on SuSE Linux 9.0 (I'm using SuSE's pre-built packages). Samba is running as a domain controller and the workstations are running Windows XP Professional. I manually installed cups-samba 1.1.19 Windows printer drivers because SuSE doesn't supply them. I've got three printers on the network which I would like to print on

Sharp AR-M550N and SAMBA
Recently, we added a Sharp AR-M550N copier to our network. This device functions as an MFC (scanner/printer/copier). When I attempt to install the drivers to the SAMBA server, I receive an error message which displays briefly and then I receive the following error message when trying to access the properties of the printer. Function address 0x3119c9f caused a protection fault. (exception code

Printer driver problem in 3.0.28/31
This occurs with Samba downloaded drivers of an installed printer. When attempting to view the printer properties you receive the following error: ?Function address 0x2d04193 caused a protection fault. Status on fixes for MS04-11/MS04-12/KB828741 issues
I realise that a large number of sites have been bitten by the bad interaction between this hotfix, and Samba. I have finally managed to spend some time looking into this, and have reproduced it in my test environment. There appears to be an issue with the NTLMSSP layer used by windows clients to wrap password change requests. Fortunately, I have also shown that it is possible to construct a

Specifying a fixed uid for RedHat RPM PrivSep user
I'm a little unconfortable with the way the privsep user is created in the RedHat spec files. In particular the way a fixed UID is specified. Now it looks (from a glance at the apache/bind spec file) that it is 'the way it is done' - but is there a register of these numbers somewhere? One way trust relationship between Win2k and Samba 2. x.x PDC
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but would it then be possible to join a "real" NT4 or Win2k BDC to the Samba domain and establish the trust relation from our other Win2k? Or does the trust relationship have to be "registered" with the entire domain and therefore all the domain controllers? Khanh Tran Network Operations Sarah Lawrence College 1 Mead Way

PDC/BDC Questions (fwd)
Cool, thanks alot, I really appreciate your time. I'm extremely pleased with 3.0.x's stability, I don't think local segment failover is really going to be a huge issue. Vedr.: Re: Migration from WindowsNT to Samba
I was thinking of using rsync, since it has the ability of mapping the written user-name instead of using UID's. Anyone know how this work on WindowsNT? I've read, that CygWin hasn't the ACL's properly implemented yet? Does another "cross-platform" exist, that can map between the written usernames? Jacob ps. I've tried using scopy, but it fails : "Acces

Print Corruption - Vendor Driver, CUPS in RAW mode
Have other expirenced "bad drivers" which corrupt the output when brinting via Samba / CUPS in RAW mode? I have a HP LJ4000 and some little label printer working fine on a network. Today a Gestetner 3222 was added (also goes by some Richo PN#) with their current PCL6 and PCL5e driver. The printer does not have its PS card installed, so I can't use that. Multiple pages are printed
