Icecast and Roxen
Hi list, I've just started for fun and personal use a stream at my box. I'm using Roxen Web Server wich provides an Icecast and Mpeg Directory as modules. Well, everything is just fine, but when I connect to my server, the stream identifies my server's name but song's titles dont. And second, the songs are played in random order wich I would like to disable. I know this

Linux to Win2k Active Directory authentication using samba.
Hi to all, Is there any additional information I can get about on Linux to Win2k Active Directory authentication using samba? I have downloaded some documents on how can i test it but its not yet complete. I know that samba 3.0 is still on alpha version, I just want to try whether someone had already tried it to implement for one login authentication, especially using the GUI mode login (KDE

How to join a linux machine to a "pure" Active Directory Domain using Samba 3.0alpha21?
Hello. I've now compiled and installed Samba 3.0 alpha 21 on a Red Hat 8.0 box (since I sadly don't have a current Mandrake box available in our network). Now I'm somewhat lost - what do I have to do, to make the Samba server join the Active Directory (which doesn't support NT 4.0 Domains)? Is "net ads join" the only thing I've got to do? Where do I set which AD

Joining PDC w/LDAP Question
Should I be required to add the machine to my passwd file even if I am using LDAP when joining a W2K domain domain? The only way I can get a machine to join my Samba PDC is via the following commands. # /usr/sbin/useradd -g 100 -d /dev/null -c "asa" -s /bin/false asa$ # smbpasswd -a -m asa I thought that using ldapsam would lookup all machine information from LDAP without having to

Samba-2.2.5pre1 - all binaries require libldap with --with-ldapsam
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, While preparing packaging of te upcoming samba-2.2.5, we are looking at having samba packages with and without ldap enabled, however, we would like to try and minimize the duplication. But, it seems that most (all?) binaries resulting from a --with-ldapsam build en up linking to libldap. Are there really good reasons for nmblookup, smbcacls,

Samba 3.0 and Active Directory Replication
I have been following the development ot Samba 3.0 with great interest. There is something that still confuses me. Can Samba 3.0 join a Windows 2000 network as a domain controller and replicate Active Directory information with existing Windows 2000 domain controllers? If Samba 3.0 is the only domain controller on a network with Windows 2000/XP clients, will the clients see it as a domain

Sharing a CD-RW
Hi, I'm a newbie at samba (I just configured the samba server on my Linux box). I was wondering if, along with the printer and disk space, I could even share the CD Writer on the linux box as a device which my "windows" friends could map and burn CDs on. any comments would be of great help thanks deepak. -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

samba + ldap + pam_mkhomedir ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi list, I'm on the way to implement samba with ldap on five servers (each owns a different nt-domain) and a master server which maintains the central user database which gets replicated to all the other servers. Now I have just one more problem, namely homedirs. I want every user to have a homedir to store for example his profile. This has to

XP Joining Samba Domain
I have successfully joined the XP machine to the domain. The strange part is, that it only wanted to be joined if it connected to the PDC and not the BDC. The way it is set-up is that the XP machine and a BDC is in one branch and the PDC is in another. Every time I would try to connect via the BDC, it would return a value ACCESS DENIED I stopped the smb service on the BDC, and got it to

I did a yum update last night at about 23h15 EDT (-4). No upgrade. I just did a yum update this morning at about 08h45 (-4). for my system there's about 348 megs of updates. Now all I have to do is figure out how to remove OO.o 2.0.whatever which is being upgraded to 2.3.whatever. I'm using 2.4.1 on my 4.6 boxes (have always been using the latest OO.o on them since installation a

Mandrake 9.0: rpcclient problem exporting printers to samba for windows
I am new to CUPS, after working for 4 days to get printing from WinNT to Mandrake 9.0, I give up. Here is the problem: the /etc/samba/smb.conf is setup with [printers] and [print$]. I copy the postscript drivers from adobe. I then tried to export a printer to samba with the following command cupsaddsmb -v -U dwoody canon It did all of the commands successfully except for the last one. which

Default domain for winbindd?
Hello once again, I've got winbind doing authentication not just for the samba service but also sshd and login. It's great. However, I have to give a fully-qualified username (e.g. "GENEEDINC+chris.palmer") as the username when logging in via these methods. I wondered, Is there any way to get winbindd to insert the domain and the separator for the user, when none is provided? I

Active Directory - Which Samba version is needed?
Hi! I'd like to setup a Samba server which should do user authentication against an Active Directory. Our AD admins told me, that we do not have Window NT 4.0 Domains available. What I'm trying to accomplish, is that the users can login with the same username/password they use with the AD. Also, if the password is changed in the AD, this change should be reflected on the Samba server.

ACLs on client Samba machines with Samba PDC.
I've got a Samba box (2.2.5a) as a member of a Samba domain. Both the PDC and client are running 2.4.18 with XFS and ACLs compiled in. Problem: on the client, I can -NOT- modify the ACLs for files from Windows. (Note that I can modify the stock Unix permissions, but not the extended users/permissions that ACL support offers.) If I try, they just vanish when I click "OK".

Can't add Machine account ( LDAP ) ...
Greetings ... Just got bitten in the ass by not been able to join the domain with 2.2.7a Correct me if I am wrong, Jerry did give me a quick explaination. It has to do with usernames and what allowable characters in it for security. Now, I need to fix this, does anybody have a patch/fix or tell me where to look in the source to try and fix this. Thanks. Mailed Lee

samba 3 mandrake rpms...where is net tool?
I installed the RPMS from samba web site for Mandrake 9.1. Configuration is weird as things are labeled smbd3 or winbind3... Testparm runs against /etc/samba/smb.conf yet swat configures the smb.conf in a different location...hmm.... But really my problem is joining the AD domain as a member server. I can't locate the net tool. How is this done? How does testparm know to test against

Print server on all linux network
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, everyone - I've been trying for two weeks now to get my print server operational under Samba. After walking through the howtos and tweaking the configs per spec, it just ain't working. Printing from a client machine sends, and then nothing happens. No error messages or anything similar. Printing from the server works fine, but
