ext3_get_inode_loc: bad inode number:
I've got an approximately 100GB ext3 FS which we recently sized down from 300GB using e2fsadm (with the disc offline obviously). I noticed the following in dmesg the other day: EXT3-fs error (device lvm(58,8)): ext3_get_inode_loc: bad inode number: 14827639 EXT3-fs error (device lvm(58,8)): ext3_get_inode_loc: bad inode number: 14041793 EXT3-fs error (device lvm(58,8)): ext3_get_inode_loc:

Help on ext3 file system corruption issue
Hi All, I m a novice developer of Linux applications. Recently I faced a file system corruption. (I guess) I have a Kernel 2.4.7-10 with ext3 file system in compact flash. The system was up for 3 months and was running with average load conditions. One fine day, it just started sending kernel messages on the serial console. The message was like this. EXT3-fs error (device ide0(3,2)):

ZIL SSD performance testing... -IOzone works great, others not so great
Hi folks, I would appreciate it if someone can help me understand some weird results I''m seeing with trying to do performance testing with an SSD offloaded ZIL. I''m attempting to improve my infrastructure''s burstable write capacity (ZFS based WebDav servers), and naturally I''m looking at implementing SSD based ZIL devices. I have a test machine with the

Help with Dell PE2950 and RAID5 setup
I've got a new PE2950 rack system with PERC controller and 6 drives set up contiguously as one RAID5 volume on the PERC controller. Using 64-bit CentOS 4.4, I partitioned for /boot having 100 Meg, swap having 2 gig, and / with the rest (removed LVM). After the install was complete, the system rebooted and just gave me a broken grub prompt (not the graphical Grub boot selector, but

Ext3 filesystem aborting journal at random times (Maxtor 300GB disk)
Hi, Sorry if this is an old and fixed issue but I can't really seem to find a definitive explanation/fix to this in the mail lists. Ever since I upgraded to FC2 my server randomly decides that it can no longer access the disk and "aborts" the ext3 journal leaving it read-only as expected. I've seen the same errors on other mail list, explained away as disk or disk cable

Continued: Join domain OK, but domain not found after reboot
Hi, all: To recap: I can successfully get my WinXP box to join the domain (WHITEROCK), but after rebooting, when I try to log on: "The system cannot log you on now because the domain WHITEROCK is not available." I get this even when using the user 'root' - and this user was the one to successfully join the domain WHITEROCK!! To rule out any stale junk, my WinXP is a

Quantum IDE HDD DMA issue.
I am running RH 7.3 with kernel 2.4.18-27.7.x. Recently I have added a new 60GB Quantum IDE hard drive to the server. I have set it up as a MASTER on a separate IDE channel. Two partitions on the /dev/hdc are /dev/hdc1, /dev/hdc2 - both using ext3. For more detailed HDD parameters, this is 'hdparm -i /dev/hdc': ----------------- /dev/hdc: Model=IC35L060AVV207-0, FwRev=V22OA66A,

Footnote support in Markdown
Hi All. I've just started using Markdown for my blog. So far it seems quite nice, but the one issue I've run into is a lack of "native" support for footnotes. I think that Daring Fireball's footnote style makes a lot of sense, and that's what I intend to use. However, it is a bit cumbersome to implement that style from within Markdown. I notice that the PHP

Asterisk/Metaswitch trunk, no inbound RTP stream on inbound calls
I've been racking my brain for the last two days to try to figure out what I could possibly be doing wrong in my configuration for a SIP trunk that's setup through my local ISPs Metaswitch. I've setup a very simple SIP Peer, which I've played around with a lot in the past two days but still comes back to the following basic setup: [provider-fireball] type=friend

New to Markdown, Suggestion . . .
So, this is my first post, greeting, yada, yada. By way of background, I'm a law student/former DC IT consultant and soon-to-return to the IT field. Don't ask me why I went to law school, I have forgotten--and I am not certain it was a good choice. I ran across Markdown only recently, although I have always favored ASCII as the impervious format. I'm also polishing my Python skills,

Markdown doesn't always generate XHTML
Hello everybody, I've just noticed that markdown doesn't always generate XHTML. In particular the input <script src="http://evilserver.net/evil.js"> generates the output: <p><script src="http://evilserver.net/evil.js"></p> (This is the markdown dingus at daring fireball, and the markdownj implementation exhibits the same problem. ext3 errors
Hello, I have a server running ext3. The server is a dell poweredge 2500 with a 100G raid 0 on a Perc3/Di raid card (aacraid driver). I've asked about this on the aacraid devel list, and no one had any solutions, and I'm not the only one having this problem, because another person on there replied with nearly the same error message as I am getting. Anyway, anywhere from once every few

rootflags argument doesn't work with initrd.
I tried to convert / to ext3, so I went ahead and entered rootflags=noload,journal=355 on the LILO prompt. The kernel failed to mount /: EXT3-fs error (device ramdisk(1,0)): ext3_get_inode_loc: bad inode number: 355 The boot device is a scsi hard disk, so initrd is used to load the scsi driver, before mounting /. So, it looks like the kernel rootflags= arg gets applied to the ramdisk, not the
