Samba4 UNIX password sync
Hi List, I am trialling a small Samba4 AD server supporting 10 users (running fine). I also have exim smtp and dovecot imap running on the same Debian Wheezy box. Simplistically, what I would like to achieve is for an AD user account to also authenticate to imap and smtp using the same credentials. I previously used Samba3 'unix password sync' to ensure that any domain users were

Virtualising legacy CentOS 4.x servers
Dear all, I look after a number of CentOS 4.x servers running legacy applications that depend on ancient versions of various things (such as MySQL 3.x) and which can't be upgraded without non-trivial development effort. I've been considering virtualising them and as a test have been trialling with a company that uses Parallels Cloud Server 6. However, I've run into a roadblock

IGMP
The BBC are currently trialling multicasting the Olympics. This requires multicast and IGMP to be available. As far as I can make out, in 2.0.8 at least, all multicast addresses are filtered out and, to my naive eyes, can''t be re-enabled. Please prove me wrong :-) Dirk -- Please Note: Some Quantum Physics Theories Suggest That When the Consumer Is Not Directly Observing This Message,

Asterisks (*) in Folder Names disallowed?
As far as I can see the RFC for IMAP should allow the * character in the folder name. This is certainly allowed in UW IMAP. Dovecot seems to object however with: ERROR : Could not complete request. Query: COPY 9975:9975 "mail/*myfolder" Reason Given: Invalid mailbox name. Could this restriction be lifted? Best wishes, Daniel

Asterisk RTP Questions
Hi All, I have some questions regarding RTP and Asterisk; I am trialling a new SIP upstream provider. We connect to them over the Internet at present which I know is not ideal, but we are just testing at present. During the trials we have had an issue where we have had one way audio between us and the provider after the call was successfully set up and bidirectional audio has been already

poLCA
Hi, I am running some latent class models with civariates using poLCA in R, and have a question the meaning of some error messages. My model has 8 y-variables (dichotomous) and 2 x-variables (also dichotomous), and I am trialling different numbers of classes. When I run a 2-class model, the model runs fine without any error messages. I used the nrep = 10 option to avoid local maxima. Class %

Thanks for all those that responded. systemd still appears to be a sore topic. systemd is still coping a whole lot of ridicule but not so violent opposition. Can't say I understand why, but you

Lists of tables and conditional statements
Hi R-users, I have a list containing numeric tables of differing row length. I want to make a new list that contains only rows from tables with a "Sum" greater than 3, plus the names of each table. I was wondering whether there is an elegant way to do this using apply of related functions as this list has many thousands of such tables. Here is an example of the list $AACS

Gluster command performance - Setting volume options slow
Hello, I'm currently trialling a deployment of GlusterFS (currently 3.10) for our Kubernetes storage and am hitting performance problems with the gluster command line interface used to provision and manage volumes. When creating, modifying or setting options on volumes - gluster takes almost exactly 1 second to issue any command. This means - if for example you have 60 volumes and 10

Wireless Production Servers Authentication of Active Directory with Inconsistent NTLM Auth Failures
Hi I work for a medium sized University and have recently set up some new infrastructure to authenticate our wireless users of Active Directory. Every thing was working as expected or so I thought. I set up a monitoring script that performs an ntlm_auth every minute and it shows that the authentication is failing inconsistently but for around 5 minutes at a time (see below). There are two

zoo matrix manipulation
Hi, I have this dataset where columns z1.3 and z1.4 are full of NA's. I want to perform some calculations in the remaining columns, but after doing this, I want to recontruct the original matrix. I can with: out <- which( colMeans( is.na( z ) ) == 1 ) gd<-z[, - out] select the columns full of NA's and those without that pattern. Then after doing the calculus I need to
