users can't change permissions on samba share
I have 2.2.5 (installed using binary RPM) on Red Hat 7.2 (should be
fully up2date). This server is acting as a PDC, and is working fine for
the most part. The problem I'm having is that nobody can change
permissions for files and folders on a service. I've attached my
smb.conf. I believe everyone change edit permissions for files/folders
in their profile. But nothing in the Public

windows -> 2.2.6
I have the official 2.2.6 RPM for RH 8 installed, and can mount windows
shares on my linux box. I can't browse the samba shares from my windows
machine though. When I go to Start->Run, "\\<hostname>" I'm given this
error message.
"The account is unauthorized to login from this station."
I created and smbpasswd entry with smbpasswd -a. There are no error

2.2.6-1 src rpm
I'm trying to get the 2.2.6-1 src rpm for RH 7.x from samba.org compiled
on RH 8.0. I built it as root with this command
rpmbuild --rebuild --target i686 samba-2.2.6-1.src.rpm.
Trying to install the built RPM (no errors in the build process) results
in these unmet dependencies:

Auto machine account creation
Hi everyone!
I've got Samba 2.2.5 installed in a network of 3 client machines all running
xp pro.
Everything works ok except "on-the-fly" machine account creation...from what
I've read I need something like
add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -s /bin/false -M $u
but this doesn't work for some reason.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or haven't

2.2.7 RH 8.0 Binary RPM's
After installing these rpm's, no swat executable can be found... I've built
it from the sources and gotten it working, but is this something that needs
to be corrected in the rpm? Has anyone else noticed this, or did I do
something silly that I haven't realized yet?

swat from 2.2.6 and RH 8.0
I know there have been previous threads about this, but I don't think
they match my problem. I have the xinetd script provided by the
Samba.org 2.2.6 binary RPM, and when I enable it and reload xinetd, I
see xinetd listening in a `netstat --ip -lnp` command. When I point my
browser at http://localhost:901/ I'm given an Alert dialog window

[LLVMdev] SwiftShader using LLVM
Hi all,
I thought some of you might be interested to know that TransGaming
SwiftShader now features a back-end based on LLVM. SwiftShader is a
high-performance 3D software rendering toolkit
(http://transgaming.com/business/swiftshader/technology/). It has recently
been licensed by Adobe for the Flash Molehill 3D API
(http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flash/molehill/).

Newbie Question: Spatial Autocorrelation with R Tutorial?
Howdy All,
I am looking for some good tutorials (books, websites, whatever) for calculating/testing for Spatial Autocorrelation using R.
Specifically, I am wanting to test for autocorrelation of a number of variables measured at a set of discrete locations.
Up to this point I have been exploring the "spdep" package and I can get "moran.test" to work, but I am concerned that

Prefer -u not to change newer files.
Hi List,
Quoting man page:
In the currently implementation, a difference of file format is
always considered to be important enough for an update, no matter
what date is on the objects. In other words, if the source has a
directory or a symlink where the destination has a file, the
transfer would occur

Is the unsupported kernel considered stable-ish?
I have a need to use the unsupported kernel for one feature only
(AFP/Appletalk support). Never having had to use it before, I''m unsure
of what''s all in it other than reading it''s config file.
From those that do use it -- is it considered stable enough to use in
lightweight production? I''m debating the use of it versus wasting my

[PATCH tftp-hpa] Add --forbid-get option to disable downloads
In my tftp usage I'm using the server to collect device
configurations but I don't want once the files are uploaded
to be accessible for download.
I've solved my problem by adding --forbid-get/-F option which
disables file downloads.

2 questions about svg output
Hi everybody :)
I use R to plot things in svg format. One of the things is text, of course.
I noticed that text() in svg() gets saved as path, which is unacceptable
for my purposes. (Interestingly, text() in cairo_pdf() gets saved as text.)
Is there a way to save text as text in svg?
And paths also is what I plot a lot. I know there is segments(), which plots
disconnected segments, and things

9-STABLE, ZFS, NFS, ggatec - suspected memory leak
Hi all,
Setup:
I'm running 2 machines (amd64, 16GB) with FreeBSD 9-STABLE (Mar 14 so
far) acting as NFS servers. They each serve 3 zpools (holding a single
zfs, hourly snapshots). The zpools each are 3-way mirrors of ggate
devices, each 2 TB, so 2 TB per zpool. Compression is "on" (to save
bandwith to the backend, compressratio around 1.05 to 1.15), atime is
off.
There is no
