samba support for local profiles
Hi, I tried searching the list and could not find a straight answer. Does samba support local profiles? How does one enable/setup local profiles? What version of samba has best support for local profiles? We are having trouble with a novell->samba migration and would like to use local profiles if possible. It would take alot of work off our hands to migrate the profiles correctly. Any

samba pdc & ldap without roaming profiles
Hi list At the momtent I use samba as a pdc with tdbsam as passwd backend. I plan to use ldap and I already tried it out. Unfortunately I didn't find a way to disable roaming profiles. I used the smbldap tools. First there is the question if I should use add user script = /usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd -m "%u" with the -a (is a Windows User) option. If I don't, then windows account

integrating active directory with samba 3.0
Hi can some please help me integrate samba 3.0 with active directory. I'm very confused about this process so far my research led me to the following article http://asia.cnet.com/itmanager/netadmin/0,39006400,39081966,00.htm. However other research led me to the use of winbind for this setup. The confusing thing is that the article did not mention winbind. I would like to have it where we

Help! Clients want a Linux server on their Win2K domain!
Hello All, I am new to Linux and Samba, and have RH7.3 with Samba 2.2.5 installed on my Win2K domain (mixed mode). I am testing RH7.3 as a file server so that I can integrate it into one (for now only one) of our client's Win2K domains. Running wbinfo I can retrieve a list of domain user and group accounts, and in webmin when assigning permissions to Samba shares I can choose these

Hello, I have manually mounted the SYSVOL share, sync it with samba and run samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset. But I'm not sure if all windows policies are acceptable by samba because of errors logs: 2015/03/18 09:30:52.197934, 0] ../source3/smbd/oplock.c:338(oplock_timeout_handler) Oplock break failed for file myDomain.local/Policies/{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}/USER/Registry.pol --

Samba 3.0.0 PDC + Win2000 Client + Group Policies
We want to build a Debian's unstable samba 3.0.0beta2-1 as PDC with plenty of Windows 2K clients. Joining the domain, Domain Logons, Roaming Profiles, Domain Groups, are Ok. As we thought that Samba 3 cannot handle Win2K's GPOs (isn't it?), we tried NT4 style Group Policies to restrict a bit users posibilities (as we have students as users). Our opinion is that Mandatory Profiles

Of course, the sysvol is located on a windows controller from the forest. mount -t cifs -o username=domain_admin_user //windowsDC.myDomain.local/SYSVOL /mnt/smb/sysvol and copied the files with -R --preserve to /usr/local/samba/var/locks/sysvol/ Below logs are provided from /usr/local/samba/var/log.smbd file. regards, On Wed, Mar 18, 2015 at 3:36 PM, Rowland Penny <rowlandpenny at

Unable to create GPO "Allow log on locally"
Well, I've set up a completely new test AD Domain with Samba 4.4.5 and one Windows 10 Client running RSAT tools in an isolated VM net. Creating a new empty GPO using RSAT tools Computer Configuration-> Policies-> Windows Settings-> Security Settings-> Local Policies-> User Rights Assignment-> Allow Logon Locally" does not work.

Migrate GPO policies does not work properly.
Hi! Sorry my late answer. I did run the sysvolcheck/reset commands and everything seems fine. On my server I use the following rpm packages, installed from the tranquil.it repository. ldb-tools.x86_64 2.0.10-1.el7?????????????????? @samba_custom libldb.x86_64?????????????????????? 2.0.10-1.el7 @samba_custom libldb-devel.x86_64???????????????? 2.0.10-1.el7 @samba_custom

Fixing sysvol permissions
Given no responses on this question for a few days, I'm concluding that we're out of ideas on this problem. Let me propose a couple of ideas. Apparently, the basic Windows FOLDER and SHARE permissions are correct according to Louis' recommendations (see message below). One thing I've noticed that is a bit puzzling is the group ownership of these policy files: -rwxrwxr-x+ 1

Elephant's Dream Ogg Theora+Vorbis file?
Has anyone made an Ogg Theora+Vorbis copy of the movie Elephant's Dream from the full resolution frames and FLAC audio files hosted by Xiph (as opposed to transcoded from some other version)? If so, where could I download a copy? I don't have the storage or CPU speed to do that job in a reasonable amount of time, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.
