how to turn off NTLM?
Andrew, as you konw, I'm trying to get samba-3.0-alpha20 to authenticate a user that logs in to an AD domain workstation with the user's AD kerberos credentials. looking at the logs, it's not clear to me whether samba is trying to do kerberos or NTLM authentication for the client. in smb.conf I have: [global] security = ADS realm = HSSOE.UCI.EDU ads server =

Problems with integrate
Hi, Having a weird problem with the integrate function. I have a function which calculates a loss density: I'd like to integrate it to get the distribution. The loss density function is: lossdensity<-function(p,Beta,R=0.4){ # the second derivative of the PDF # p is the default probability of the pool at which we are evaluating the lossdensity # Beta is the correlation with the market

Error joining Win2K domain: ads_connect: DSA is unavailable
I'm running 3.0alpha (both current CVS pull and alpha20 from dist) and trying to have my samba server join our already in place Win2K ADS domain. I am able to 'kinit user@DOMAIN' and auth successfully, but upon attempting 'net ads join', I get the following: # net ads join -Uadministrator administrator password: [2002/10/31 05:11:19, 1] libsmb/clikrb5.c:krb5_mk_req2(63)

Problem Logging in to Samba PDC
Hello! Ok, recently upgraded from Samba 2.2.3a to 2.999+3.0.alpha20-2. After successfully joining the Win2k SP3 machine to the Samba PDC, I'm unable to log in. The error I get is the following: "The system cannot log you on to this domain because the system's computer account in its primary domain is missing or the password on that account is incorrect" According to the

Samba Accross Lans
Hello All! I have Samba Version 2.999+3.0.alpha20-2. Just recently I tried to join the domain using the Win2k Wizard with no success. This functionality worked in the previous version of Samba V. 2.2.3a. If I'm on the same subnet though, it works like a charm. The error I receive is the following: "The following error occurred validating the name "mydomain" The specified

Samba 3alpha20 Bugs (FreeBSD 4.6)
hello, I would say that for Samba 3.0 alpha20 (and latter I suppose ) acting as PDC you must reenable "use spnego=yes". I say it because it is not clear, and I had to search a lot before finding why i could not log on. (it work with spnego=no with alpha17 !) I've tried to set up add and delete scripts for everythings : add user script, delete user script etc... add/del user and

Not reading quota under 3.0.0
Hi, I'm using samba 3.0.0 under redhat 9.0. Quota is assinged to user but they can't see their used space on windows explorer. The used space reported is only 8.0k, no matter what they have in ther home. I used the samba rpm downloaded from samba site. For a smbd -b command i get this (extract): --with Options: WITH_ADS WITH_PAM WITH_QUOTAS WITH_SENDFILE WITH_SMBMOUNT

auth logging or auditing
Good morning! I compiled samba 4.10.8 from source in a slackware 14.2 machine and imported a samba classic domain from an ldap backend. Everything works flawlessly except for a couple of user who are getting their accounts locked out periodically. I'm trying to debug this problem so I modified the smb.conf file of the DC so that it looks like this # Global parameters [global] ??????? dns

RE: SWAT not working, can't authenticate
I have had this problem before. Never really got to the bottom of it but if you want to get on then just add '-a' to your swat command to disable authentication. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Myers [mailto:myersjj@us.ibm.com] Sent: 07 November 2002 21:08 To: SAMBA@SAMBA.ORG Subject: RE: [Samba] RE: SWAT not working, can't authenticate I had already done that, so it must be

RE: SWAT not working, can't authenticate
Did you make sure localhost resolves? Also, depending on your /etc/resolv.conf, you may have to fully qualify the host's name including the DNS domain. I seem to rember having problems with this, and some combination of using localhost or hostname.domain.edu or using the actual IP address of the host cleared up the problem. Sipura g729 call quality to PSTN
If this has been covered before - I appologize. We use some Sipura SPA-2000's with the g711 codec and all seems fine (except for the occasional failure to register errors in my asterisk logs - but I will save that for another post). g711 call quality is on par with our Cisco 7960's. However, when using the g729 codec, the call quality on the Sipura device goes downhill on the PSTN side

can't join samba to win2k3 domain - please help
Hello, I've managed to join four other samba servers to win2k3 domains in the past but I am stuck doing so with samba-3.0.23c_2,1. I've verified hosts / domain forward and reverse lookups succeed. Below are my configurations. I'm running FreeBSD 6.1-stable cvsupped as of Nov 17. I've built Samba with the following options... WITH_LDAP=true WITH_ADS=true WITHOUT_CUPS=true

Controlling smbclient from python weirdness
I've written a python wrapper around the smbclient program, so that I can list/upload/download from Windows shares. Using smbclient 2.0.9 or Version 2.2.5-2 for Debian, my wrapper works well and is able to control the smbclient process via pipes well. With both smbclient 2.999+3.0cvs20020723-1 and 2.999+3.0.alpha20-3 (on a Debian box) the smbclient responses appear to be not always BEFORE the
