locking problems with RHEL 3 and dovecot
I just migrated from a FreeBSD/Sendmail/UW-IMAP setup to RHEL
3/Postfix/Dovecot (1.0a5 currently). Both systems used Procmail as the final
delivery agent (into inboxes or .
Since the changeover, things have *mostly* been going ok, but I've been
having some problems that I think are locking-related.
I'm getting reports from users about IMAP hangs (mostly from Thunderbird).

"Dumb" proxying?
I'm a database noob, and it really seems like it would be overkill for my
setup: I just want to proxy all connections from my DMZ to my internal mail
server -- same internal server for all users. I used to use perdition for
this set up, but am having issues getting it to play nicely with my new servers.
Can I bypass all of the SQL stuff and just have dovecot forward all POP/IMAP

Commands failing silently?
Hello all:
I have a couple CentOS 4 servers (all up-to-date) that are having strange
command failures. I first noticed this with a perl script that uses lots of
system calls.
Basically, sometimes a command just won't run:
thoth(52) /tmp> ls
thoth(53) /tmp> ls
thoth(54) /tmp> ls
thoth(55) /tmp> ls

half-life cd doesnt recognize
When I run half-life under Codeweavers Wine, it says it cannot validate the
cd. I tried cracking it under windows 4 times with different cracks, and
they work under windows, but in wine it says my executable has been edited.
When I had just plain wine that came iwth mydistro (suse 7.2), it worked
fine. I have no idea what to do and what is causing this. Thanks!

Hello,
Thanks for quick reply.
File server config looks exactly like this, except more shares, all with
same simple config. I know that "use defualt domain" isn't necessery,
but it's not the issue for me right now.

EL7: Detecting FS errors on XFS while mounted
Is there a way of checking an XFS filesystem for clean/dirty status while
mounted?
One of the checks we've long performed is an FS-level error check. This is
*not a full-on fsck*, this is "asking the file system if it noted any
problems". This is done while the file system is mounted and "hot". For
example, here's how we'd check an ext* partition:

Why the new centos-release update?
Just curious about this after seeing the following output of a typical
"yum upgrade":
Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check
---> Package centos-release.x86_64 0:7-5.1804.el7.centos.2 will be updated
---> Package centos-release.x86_64 0:7-5.1804.1.el7.centos will be an update
...etc...
After downloading the 2 centos-release RPMs, the content appears
identical.?

POLYCOM IP 500 Setup
Hello, I just wiped out my old asterisk install and installed Asterisk
at Home. I was quickly able to get my Digium TDM422P working, 2 POTS
lines, 2 phones. I also got X-Lite working as a SIP extension. I then
tried to setup my Polycom IP 500, and this was not so easy...
Using AMP I created SIP extension 205 to be used with my Polycom phone.
I setup username = 205, secret = 123, context =

Best BootRom & SIP Code for Poly600?
Hey all,
Just getting started playing around with my Polycom 600. According to
the wiki, it looks like it's recommended to run BootRom 2.6.1 and SIP
1.4.1. Is that info still current, or is it safe to upgrade to 3.0.1
and 1.5.2?
