Lost connection to network drive
Hi, I am using samba 2.2.5. My problem is with windows 2000, the mapped network drive share losses connection after a period of time, e.g. 30 minutes. You will see an "X" marked red in the mapped drive letters. I looked up microsoft's website for persistent connections problems but the suggestion is already set in my register keys.

Mapped drives gets disconnected ?
Hi! I'm running a RedHat 7.2 server with Samba 2.2.3a - but recently I have a problem that mapped drives on Windows 2000 workstations get disconnected and have problems reconnecting (error message is something like "local device name already in use" when I try to browse the drive in Windows Explorer). Any idea what causes this problem ? Regards, /Brian

Weird operator behaviour
Hi, I have a dataset called 'fish'. fish$Species returns extract 1. When I use fish$Species != c("CRA","PHC"), i.e. I want all species except "CRA" and "PHC", I get extract 2 which is blatantly wrong. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? Hi R friends, I havent asked a silly question in a long time so here it is: Reading the last issue of Stat Can J. there is an article in a single degree of freedom test for non aditivity of interactions in anova tables with 1 obs per cell. The authors claim it is more powerfull than Tukey but for the case of multiplicative interaction, which is the alternative studied by Tukey. I tried to

SV: Speex modes
Thanks! Btw, have you tried using SBR-technology or similar with speech codecs? That might be a good idea I thought.. But I don't know if it produces as good quality with speech codecs as it does for music codecs. Do you know if there is any open source variant of SBR? /Pontus -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Från: owner-speex-dev@xiph.org [mailto:owner-speex-dev@xiph.org]För Jean-Marc

How to concatenate time series?
Hello, I have just completed first experiments in using R, especially creating and using ARIMA models, e.g. # create a model as in example(arima) fit <- arima(USAccDeaths, order = c(1,1,1),seasonal = list(order=c(1,1,1))) # use the model to generate a prediction dp<-predict(fit, n.ahead = 24) plot(dp$pred) # view the prediction Now I created a combined chart of the original and

PlusV algorithm
Important (imho)! I found this site in the internet: http://www.plusv.org/ PlusV is an audio enhancement algorithm similar to SRB of Mp3Pro, but 1) better than SBR 2) Fully open-source It seems to me wise to include PlusV into new versions of Ogg Vorbis. P.S. what about some long-awaited features in Ogg Vorbis? 1) ability to turn off the frequency filter in the encoder (especially for high

Multithread problem: Writing to a db disables reading from another one
Hi to all, I have Xapian 0.8.1 installed on a single processor RH9 machine with a custom 2.4.20 kernel. (I used ./configure without parameters.) I have followed the recent "threaded test" discussion here, and I have tested the examples: - Richard Boulton's example with one database, one writer, and three readers (1) works fine, I only see the expected DatabaseModifiedError. - Eric

png() and pdf() alignment problems
Hi all! My aim is to print a thematic map containing vector output and an image backdrop (six orthophoto tiles). The size of one image tile is 2500 rows and 2500 columns. The are six tiles to be printed. Of course this is far to much for sending the job to a pdf() device. The raster image would consist of 37500000 squares, each representing a raster cell. So my a attempt was to separate vector

AACplus
Sorry for the crosspost but it's relevant to Vorbis and Icecast I believe. I'm seeing more and more streaming stations using AACplus, with many listeners being amazed at the sound quality. Most say that a 48kb/s sounds better than a 128kb/s MP3, which would put Ogg Vorbis at around 96kb/s IMO. That means only half the bitrate is required in AACplus compared to Ogg Vorbis for the same
