ctdb issues
I have been running ctdb on our cluster for ~6 months to serve a gpfs filesystem
over nfs. It has been running a treat :) !
Recently the servers were upgraded to redhat 5.7 and ctdb-1.0.112-1.el5
is part of the package list. Since the upgrade the log file is filled with

Scatterplot Matrix
Is there any way to make the points on my scatterplot matrix correspond to numbers instead of dots? I know how to do this on a regular 2-variable scatterplot but not on the matrix. Thanks!

how to not sort factors when plotting
Hello,
When making a graph, plot and boxplot automatically sort my factor
levels (y axis) into alphabetical order. Is there a way to make it
NOT do this? I've tried:
sort.by="none", sorted=FALSE, sort=FALSE, reorder=FALSE.
Thank you.

Windows 7 Offline Files (CSC) not syncing from Samba 3.4.0 PDC
Hi All,
I've been running a Samba 3.4.0 on Ubuntu 9.10 for over a year at a
friend's office and it has been extremely stable. But I've suddenly hit a
scenario where Windows 7 clients can no longer properly sync the main
share as 'Offline Files'
I found it highly unreliable under Vista Business, then Win7Pro seemed to
work much better; but suddenly I am finding that

Yes, the (start, stop] formalism is the easiest way to deal with time
dependent data.
Each individual only needs to have sufficient data to describe them, so
for if id number 4 is in house 1, their housemate #1 was eaten at time
2, and the were eaten at time 10, the following is sufficient data for
that subject:

boostrap an nls regression
Hello there
I have the following model based on the hollings disc equation for the type
II functional response for 2 data sets:
nls(eaten~(a*suppl)/(1+a*h*suppl)
where eaten is the number of prey eaten by a predator and suppl is the
number of prey initially supplied to the same predator.
I have parameter estimates of 'a' and 'h' for the two populations studied
and would like

Survival, should I use (start, stop) and how?
Dear R users,
I fear this is terribly trivial but I'm struggling to get my head around it.
First of all, I'm using the "survival" package in R 2.12.2 on Windows Vista with the RExcel plugin. You probably only need to know that I'm using "survival" for this.
I have data collected from 180 or so individuals that were checked 7 times throughout a trial with set

why doesn't "s" accept incoming call
Call from 'sip' to extension '+1xxxyyyzzzz' rejected because extension
not found in context 'out'.
But

exten => s,n,Answer()
exten => s,n(weasels),PlayBack(weasels-eaten-phonesys)

If I set "s" to "_." it works.
Shouldn't "s" work here? Is it because the

OpenSSL 1.1.0j version checking bug in configure.ac [PATCH]
Hi, I've just found this issue - brackets are eaten by Autoconf.
Quadrigraphs [1] may be used instead. This way configure produces
correct error.

Simple way to banish IP addresses ?
Hi,
I just set up a web server... and my bandwidth is being eaten by some
chinese folks trying to brute-force-ssh their way into the machine.
Is there a simple way to banish either single IP addresses or, maybe
even better, whole IP classes ? I know it's feasible with iptables, but
is there something more easily configurable ?
Cheers,
Niki

indexing for Wilcoxon test (take 2)
Hi everyone,
I've been asked to run a number of Wilcoxon tests on some behavioral data
(below is a sample). They want me to compare each trial to the first
trial, considered the control trial. I know I can use brackets to index and
select, for example, trial 1 vs. trial 4 (not exactly sure how to set that
up either) but it would save me a ton of time if there was a way to do all
