I pulled the coreutils SRPM and it won't build because it wants texinfo and
dnf says it doesn't exist, using either the builddep or search subcommands.

Bizarre problems with two Samba in the same workgroup
I had to setup a new Samba server as a PDC in my job (Samba 3.0) to replace
and existing Samba server PDC (Samba 2.2), the old server was running ldap
as backend, the new is running tdbsam. I have a lot of bizarre problems when
I put both in the same workgroup with other machines. I will give you a list
of them:
1) The new server is configured as local master browser and domain master

Samba vs Linux file permissions
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello,
I cannot find anything in the documentation or mailing list that
addresses this oddity.
I've installed Samba Version 3.4.7 on Ubuntu Server 10.04, and I'm
utterly confused by samba's behavior regarding permissions.
Users on the server have home directories in /home/chemgroup/username.
(chemgroup is actually a symlink to another

Need help with share permissions
Hello all,
I am struggling to get share permissions to work properly.
I am currently using samba 3.6.3 with AD integration.
I want to force the following permissions:
- created/renamed/copied directories: 0770
- created/renamed/copied files: 0660
- file permissions should not be editable by Windows users.
I have tried a lot of different combinations of parameters but failed to

Samba and Win2k: Printing from Outlook Express
Hi,
we are operating the IT of a small non-profit organization with a Samba
server (2.2.5) and roughly 15 Win2k workstations. Everything works
fine so far but one single issue: Printing messages from Outlook
Express: only the header of the mail is printed, no single line of the body.
All the domain users are standard-users (I'm not sure about the
correct English wording, may be someone

File permissions used for automatically created mailbox
Hi,
I'm running Dovecot 2.1.12 on FreeBSD (quite successfully so, thanks for
this nice piece of software!). One thing which is slightly annoying
though is that automatically created mailboxes (I have
lda_mailbox_autocreate set) don't have the file permissions I'd like
them to have.
I'm using a vmail-based system, i.e. all mail is owned by vmail:vmail;

Setting up Pointing and Click Printing through APW on Win2k Machine
First off I have read the SAMBA 2.2 printer documetation and Samba Printing Documentation for 3.0. And searched the Internet through Google and did not come up with much. Maybe it is how I am doing search I don't know. I had some success using CUPS for Point and Click printing using cupaddsmb command. I could get the print drivers to download on W2K and XP. But, I could not get the the

compression of source and target files
Hi - there's a flag for rsync to compress the files in transit - is it
possible
to compress one side (target) with gzip and have rsync still work
correctly?
Any help would be appreciated.

User's smbd processes don't get killed
Hi, all.
Last saturday, we've done a cutover for Samba 2.0.5a to be our new
fileserver. All is going well, except for two network users that make me
reboot the server.
What happens is as follows:
* user logs on onto samba server;
* user opens and closes files, etc, OK until in one of these
operations his/her machine hangs;
* user reboots his/her machine to log on again. In this

MacOSX 10.9.4 with Samba 4.1.11 and permissions weirdness
Hi folks,
I'm running CentOS 6.5 on our storage nodes, with Samba 4.1.11 RPMs from Sernet.
We're having a strange issue with MacOSX clients (testing on 10.9.4)
when writing directories.
Relevant smb.conf share portions:
create mask = 0660
force create mode = 0660
directory mask = 0770
force directory mode = 0770
