Slow write times to gluster disk
Are you sure using conv=sync is what you want? I normally use conv=fdatasync, I'll look up the difference between the two and see if it affects your test.

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Guys,
I was wondering what our next steps should be to solve the slow write times.
Recently I was debugging a large code and writing a lot of output at
every time step. When I tried writing to our gluster disks, it was
taking over a day to do a single time step whereas if I had the same
program (same hardware, network) write to our nfs disk the time per
time-step was about 45 minutes.

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Ben,
Sorry this took so long, but we had a real-time forecasting exercise
last week and I could only get to this now.
Backend Hardware/OS:
* Much of the information on our back end system is included at the
top of
http://lists.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2017-April/030529.html
* The specific model of the hard disks is SeaGate ENTERPRISE CAPACITY

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi,
Today we experimented with some of the FUSE options that we found in the
list.
Changing these options had no effect:
gluster volume set test-volume performance.cache-max-file-size 2MB
gluster volume set test-volume performance.cache-refresh-timeout 4
gluster volume set test-volume performance.cache-size 256MB
gluster volume set test-volume performance.write-behind-window-size 4MB

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi All,
Decided to try another tests of gluster mounted via FUSE vs gluster
mounted via NFS, this time using the software we run in production (i.e.
our ocean model writing a netCDF file).
gluster mounted via NFS the run took 2.3 hr
gluster mounted via FUSE: the run took 44.2 hr
The only problem with using gluster mounted via NFS is that it does not
respect the group write permissions which

Solaris8 and winbind.
Hi,
I used to look forward to Samba's warning free compilations, but this is
to be no more.
I've got samba 2.2.2 installed and running with --without-winbind, but it
seems that this
is a good thing to have. Sooo...
Has anyone successfully compiled winbind on Solaris 8 using cc? I'm
using cc (cc: Sun WorkShop 6 update 1 C 5.2 2000/09/11) and am running
into the same compile

group write permissions not being respected
For the enforcing=0, is that referring to SELinux? If so, we are not
running SELinux.

Using TSM to back-up glusterfs
Hi
We have been trying back-up a glusterfs (v3.1.4) area using
the Tivoli TSM software to an off-site area. The back-up
keeps failing with the following typical error messages

winXP sp1 seems to break roaming profiles on samba3
I applied sp1 and get a message saying that the
"a server copy of the profile exists that does not have the correct
security. Either the current user or the Administrator's group must be
the owner of the folder."
the owner of the profile is correct...
It works again when I re-image back to pre sp1
there is an event in the security log saying...

Issue mounting /home area from NAS server
Hi,
Just before the Thanksgiving break, we enabled quotas on
the /home areas on the mseas-data server (running CentOS 5.8),
using the following line in the updated /etc/fstab
/dev/mapper/the_raid-lv_home /home ext3
defaults,usrquota,grpquota 1 0
Following the Thanksgiving reboot of mseas-data we have been
experiencing problems with svn on mseas (our front-end machine,

Roaming profiles on WinXP SP1 and samba....
Hi Everyone,
I have read as much as I can find about this subject and still am no
closer to understanding why my roaming profiles are not working
correctly.
I have an existing Samba server with RP working. Now I need to move this
to new server due to HW failure on original server.
Configs almost identical. Profiles now reside on a different partition,
but I' ve told samba where to find them.

"Structure needs cleaning" error
Hi,
We have recently upgraded our gluster to 3.2.5 and have
encountered the following error. Gluster seems somehow
confused about one of the files it should be serving up,
specifically
/projects/philex/PE/2010/Oct18/arch07/BalbacFull_250_200_03Mar_3.png
If I go to that directory and simply do an ls *.png I get
ls: BalbacFull_250_200_03Mar_3.png: Structure needs cleaning

Cannot mount gluster volume
Hi,
We recently installed glusterfs 3.3.1. We have a 3 brick gluster system running
that was being successfully mounted earlier. Yesterday we experienced a
power outage and now after rebooting our systems, we are unable to mount
this gluster file system. On the gluster client, a df -h command shows 41TB
out of 55TB, while an ls command shows broken links for directories and
missing files.

printer permissions
A stupid question. With new printing system (spoolss) how people
restrict access to the printers ? It was clear with the old system when
each printer was in a separate share. I could assign a list of valid
users for each printer share.
TIA.

pwdMustChange weirdness
Did anybody get to work password change enforcement with Samba PDC
running LDAP ?
It looks like it is "semi-working". I was able to enforce password
change with USRMGR, but now it keeps asking me for the password change
every time. I checked the pwdMustChange attribute and it is still set to
0 for some reason (hence checkbox for the password change enforcement in
USRMGR is still checked

file quotas
Hi all,
I've compiled samba --with-quotas, turned on user and group quotas on
ext3,
assigned quotas, BUT it does not seem to be working. Windows client
always shows all available space instead of showing the quota. Do I miss
something ?
P.S. I run Debian with 2.4.19 kernel patched for ext3 ACL support (from
acl.bestbits.at).
