Cross Subnet WINS?
But the win wks on the other subnet is configured to use my
SAMBASERVER as its WINS SERVER, and it is configured using the
IP Adress of the SAMBASERVER and not the name. Shouldn't this
do the trick?
win wks is on a wireless subnet and hence runs at 11 MBPS, while
the SAMBASERVER is on a wired subnet. I read somewhere that windows
does some kind of "optimization" with slow networks.

Announce of our Xen project; Routing simulation with Einar
Hello all,
Some time before Christmas, a project was started. The task was to
enhance an existing LiveCD solution with User-mode Linux. A number of
requirements was stated, where the greatest challenge was to fit 10
virtual routers within an old no-name PC with only 256MB Ram. And the
solution must still be run from a LiveCD.
Thanks to Xen, the task was possible to complete.

Migrating UW-POP3 mbox storage to Dovecot POP3 mbox storage
Hi
We have an mailserver running RedHat Linux 9.0 with UW-IMAP (imap-2001a-
18.progeny.1.src.rpm), we have user mailboxes in /var/spool/mail/username
using the default mbox storage method.
Some users have home directories and some dont. They only connect through the
POP3 server, not IMAP.
We are now migrating both hardware and software to an new server running RHEL

kernel.org 2.6.16-rc2 vs xen-unstable 2.6.16-rc2 - missing buslogic?
Hello,
Is there some things removed from the kernel.org kernels before the get
into xen-unstable? I was just about to compile a new dom0 kernel, and
couldn''t find the option for Buslogic SCSI driver i xen-unstable kernel
synced earlier this morning.
I find this a bit strange, as I know the option is there in kernel.org''s
2.6.16-rc2. The config option was somehow lost in 2.6.15

Wine and industrial communication like OPC
Hello!
I have some questions about Wine and how/if it can be used with industrial communication like OPC (MicroSoft Com/DCom objects, DDE and more)
My short question is:
Can I use Wine to make OPC communication work with a Linux system.
OPC "OLE for Process Control"
A "general" standard for communication in industrial systems, that unfortunately is totally depending on

One domain w/ multiple subnets. Do a "join" for each subnet?
We've got Samba 2.2.2 up and running fine on an RS/6000 (AIX) machine w/ NT
authentication. We have one domain w/ multiple subnets, and need users on
these different subnets to have access to the shares on this machine.
We've tested from a different subnet than the one we originally ran
smbpasswd on, and it fails (prompting for the passwd to the share...when it
works fine from the

Feature request: Configure CONFIG_MODULE_DIR and AUTH_MODULE_DIR at runtime
Hi!
I am running dovecot 2.1.16 on NixOS (http://nixos.org), and I have been
fighting the dynamically loaded dovecot modules/plugins a bit.
The problem is that in Nix/NixOS all packages are completely isolated from
each other (each package has a separate /lib, /libexec, /bin etc, with
only its own files in it). So dovecot has all its modules under

Subnet authority and trust
Hello,
How does tincd determine the subnet(s) of other remote nodes? Does
tincd read its copies of the hosts file and parse and follow the
subnet information contained in the local files? Or does tincd solely
trust the subnet information dynamically advertised by each remote
node?
In my experimentation, it seems that:
a) tincd reads its own subnet(s) from its copy of its own host file, but

Routing / NAT for Multi Subnet Router
Hi,
I have a linux system which is router between several subnets (each also a
different segment), in total 3 different lans, 2 dmz, and 4 internet
connections, my default FORWARD policy is DROP, here is a simplified example
of my config with only two lan segments and internet connection:
Allow forwarding between lans

Cross-subnet browsing with multiple domains/workgroups
Hi,
I'm trying to set up browsing across subnets to provide an
'enterprise'-wide (sorry for the MS term ;-) browse list / Network
Neighbourhood.
I've read BROWSING.TXT, but I can't see how machines on different subnets
in different domains/workgroups sync up (using Samba, anyway).
On my local subnet, I've set up a clunky old Linux 386 (Samba 1.9.18p8)

multi-subneted network browsing problem
Hi *
I have a question about windows network browsing from linux box in a
multi-subneted network. I have such network topology: my subnet is

several other subnets - 10.105.27.0/27, 10.105.27.96/27, ...,
172.17.51.64/27, ..., 172.17.48.0/26, ...

subnet browsing crappy solution!
Trying all the stupid methods to solve the issue of Win2k hosts from
different subnets that can't be seen in the NetworkNeighbourhood when server
is Samba on Linux (including reading the F***ing manuals and not finding
anything useful or browsing through the source of samba until my eyes fall
in my mouth) I have decided that they were, well... ,stupid and chose to try

Guest-networking: Two subnets = Guests cannot connect to the other subnet
Hello list,
We have KVM setup using libvirt (0.9.0) as configuration device on a Debian
Squeeze Host. Networking is done in routed bridge mode and we have two
different subnets, as well as one main ip. Subnets get routed to the main ip
(this is done by our provider).
Network on hosts are done like this:
<network>
<name>subnet_1</name>
