samba + unix passwd sync when using LDAP
Hi, I noticed that when using (on debian unstable, samba 3.0pre): passdb backend = ldapsam the "unix passwd sync" in no longer performed, even if "pam password change" is on. Is ther a way to keep the userPassword (samba), lmPassword(samba), ntPassword(samba) fields synchronized with smbpasswd? Thanks in advance, cheers, -- ldm@apartia.org

Hi guys/girls, How are you ? I'm looking at migrating my Samba-3.0.1 server which has the standard tdb backend to Samba-3.0.2a with an LDAP backend. I plan to use nss_ldap too. What would be the best way of doing this ? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Samba and Migration to an existing LDAP backend
Folks, I have a new build of samba 3.3.0 ( stand alone file server ) which is configured to find all user data in an ldap directory, eg passdb backend = ldapsam. After testing I have confirmed that it all seems to work as it should with a test set of users. Now I need to figure out the best way to migrate the shares and users from the old system ( that used /etc/passwd to store user auth

Samba as a PDC and LDAP - migration
Well, I'm having some problems migrating users. I work on an university, and all teachers / students / users only have a Webmail accout. What I want to do is migrate those users to a LDAP server, and make Windows XP authenticate on a Samba Domain Controller. So far, I've managed to make the PDC and LDAP base, but... how can I migrate users from a passwd/shadow account to a samba

distorted native music on hold
Hello, Using asterisk-1.2.1 I am trying to convert my music-on-hold files from .wav to alaw: % sox moh.wav -r 8000 -c 1 moh.al resample -ql The file sounds fine when listened with: % sox mox.al -t ossdsp /dev/dsp But when listened through asterisk with an alaw SIP phone the sound is clicky and too fast. Did I forget something in my conversion command? -- ldm@apartia.fr

Hi, I would like to create samba only domain and have centralized samba+system users database in LDAP (using posixaccount+sambaccont). Does samba uses NSS to find users/groups info? I mean, can I have system with users in LDAP, but not in /etc/passwd? Thanks, -- Saulius Gurklys

Samba3.0beta1 as PDC with LDAP
I finally got Samba-3.0beta1 as PDC with LDAP backend. However, I need to specify: passdb backend = ldapsam smbpasswd:smbpasswd guest and have the root account's exists in smbpasswd file. I still could not get a uid=root entry in LDAP to allow client workstation to join the domain. When in samba-2.2.8a I could use a fake rid=506 with uidNumber=0 entry in LDAP (as a SambaAccount) and it

OpenSSH public key problem with Solaris 10 and LDAP users?
Hello. I've got a problem logging in to a Sparc Solaris 10 machine with public key authentication. I searched, and found a similar problem report at <http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.network.openssh.devel/12694>. For that guy, the problem had to do with LDAP. My user accounts are also stored in LDAP, an OpenLDAP server, to be exact. That server runs on the same machine as the machine

migrating users to openldap
I noticed that when I migrated my users with the migrate_passwd.pl tool from PADL it didn't migrate the actual passwords (just the rest of the posixAccount info). I think I need to set the EXTENDED_SCHEMA variable and then try running the tool again. does anyone know what this should be? I actually thought there might be a migrate_shadow.pl tool that could accomplish this, but there

hi, I've a problem with adding workstations to my samba/ldap pdc - if i add the workstation with win2000 to the pdc then the workstation gets registered in ldap with the following entry: (i am using smbldap-useradd.pl -w -d /dev/null -g computers -c 'Computer Account' -s /bin/false %u) which seems to me to be ok, but the workstation tells me that it couldn't get attached to the

Solaris nss_ldap vs PADL nss_ldap
Hi All, Any thoughts on why, while everything seems ok at the OS level (getent , id -a ) Samba doesn't pickup any supplementary groups when Solaris is configured with 'group: files ldap' in nsswitch.conf and using it's own native nss_ldap.so.1 but does when using PADL's nss_ldap? Everything else is equal. Do they use/accept different calls or could it be an

XP Joining Samba Domain
I have successfully joined the XP machine to the domain. The strange part is, that it only wanted to be joined if it connected to the PDC and not the BDC. The way it is set-up is that the XP machine and a BDC is in one branch and the PDC is in another. Every time I would try to connect via the BDC, it would return a value ACCESS DENIED I stopped the smb service on the BDC, and got it to
