W9x print driver download problems with Samba 2.2.3a and CUPS
I've set up Samba and CUPS on our testing server here, and used
smbcupsadd to upload the Adobe PS drivers to the server as directed in
the HOWTO (The CUPS and Samba HOWTOs differ on this point, by the way -
the latter claims that PSMON.DLL is needed in addition to the eight
other files. I played it safe and had it upload that, too).
With the caveat that I first have to connect to each printer

smbclient & printing on win2k box with HP Deskjet 560C (Drivers?) SMB 2.2.3a - Kernel 2.4.7, red hat 7.2
Hi LUs,
I dont have much time at the moment to read tons of documentation. So, I
would like to ask a hopefully easy to answer question.
Samba is running alright with me, smbclient works fine, but I would like to
print from my Linux box over LAN to a printer (HP 560C) connected to a win2k
box. Because I can't afford a better or second printer & I also havent got
enough room for it

Unable to print correctly html on Windows Printer (SMB) Share
Hi All,
After connecting a HP DeskJet 950C printer to my NT Server and configuring it as a share printer, I used samba and printconf to connect to it.
I setup the printer in printconf as a Samba (SMB) Printer/Windows Printer (SMB) Share
After restarting the lpd daemon, I can print successfully the ASCII test page and other linux files, e.g. smb.conf, /etc/fstab, etc.
My problem is that I am unable

Share stuff that located on another server
Hi,
I have a server with www-content. I don't want Samba installed on this host
as I have another server already acting as Samba host, sharing different
things.
My question is, what is the best way for the Samba-server to share the
www-content that's on the other server?
If I mount the www-content using NFS on the Samba-server there will be
permission problems, unless there's a way

Force user permission in specific folders
Hi,
It's not that often that I'm messing around with Samba but I have a dilemma
that I need some help with.
I have a share called "common", users can create folders and files just
fine but I'm wondering if it's possible to force folders/files to be
created with certain user/group owner in just that specific folder.
I not I can force so that everything is created with a

Win2K Printer Driver Problems - Hi Jerry!!
Nope, close but no cigar.
With 2.2.6Pre2 Word started to behave itself but Outlook acts as though
landscape is a foreign concept(i.e everything prints portrait regardless of
page setup). Spoolsv also crashes on the Win2K workstations requiring a
manual restart of the spooler service. We will downgrade to 2.2.5 and try
Jerry's patch.
In another message Jerry talks about "running"

I have some problems that every time I start Outlook and retrieve my
e-mails and then later tries to do it on my iPhone for example, I get
some sort of problem that I can't get the mails.
I searched around on the wiki and found the "outlook-no-nuls" and
"outlook-idle" options, but where am I suppose to add them?
I only have "pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv"

smbfs win2k 2.2.3a error
Fellow SAMBA lovers:
I've been using 'mount -t smbfs blah blah' for over a year to do
backup/restore. I recently upgraded SAMBA from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a and the NT
Server I was attaching to from v4 to Win2k. Now 'mount -t smbfs' returns an
error. However, smbmount with the same parameters works, so I just changed
the scripts to use smbmount. I suspect it's the Windoze server

Windows 2000 RC2 problem in printing (Samba 2.0.6)
Dear sir:
There was one problem which bothered me for a long time.
I used the Red Hat 5.2 with kernel 2.0.36 (gcc 2.7.2.3) and samba-2.0.3,
samba-2.0.5a for a period of time. The Linux was treated as the Samba server.
All of the file/printer sharing from the Linux samba server to the MS-Windows
95/98/NT clients are OK. It only got problems in the Windows 2000 (since
Beta3, now RC2) as the

Trouble with 2.2.3a and Win2K, Please help
Forgive me if this particular topic has been covered a gazillion times, I've searched the list but to no avail.
I've been pulling my hair out for the past few days trying to configure samba on my SuSE/8.0 box and my Win 2000 box.
I have the linux box's icon come up in "My Network Places" under the right workgroup but when I double click on it I get the following error

Re: 2.2.3a as a PDC for Win2k Pro and/or WinXP Pro
Hi Mathias,
I can't speak on Win2k Pro but have recently tested WinXP Pro. Now with
XP you will need to use the reg file included with the samba archive (in
a sub directory in the docs dir). Once that has been applied (presuming
all accounts have already been created on server) you can join the
domain and log in no problems.
