Winbind and space in username
I have winbind & samba (2.2.5) set up to provide home shares to users of our Windows NT domain. I have also gotten pam_mkhomedir to work properly to automatically create their home directory. Connecting to \\sambaserver\homes works well for this. However, I have a problem if an NT Domain username contains a space. I cannot figure out how to work around this. Their home directory gets

I cannot get the server to allow access to users who are members of a group with spaces in its name. The domain has three (main) groups: - students - teachers - spaced users My Samba.conf has the following shared directories defined: [teachers] comment =

Prompted for passwd on NT after succesful logon?
Hi, this has probably been answered before but I couldn't find it in the archives, so... Sun SPARC Solaris 2.6 and Samba 2.0.0, plain passwords (no smbpasswd, only Unix usernames and no NT domain). Everything works fine, but those using NT are prompted for username and password when they first access a share, even though they have already logged in to the NT-box using the same username

Changing password from Windows 2K / XP client on samba server with different passwords on client and server
Hello all, I've got a problem when I try to change a password from W2K or XP on a samba 2.2.5 - server. That's the situation: The user "hugo" is logged on locally or in a domain "first" with his password "secret". The user has shares on a secound domain, the "samba" domain, too. The user can do a net use M: \\samba\share to get the share on the

authenticating NT users with space in username?
I know it's ridiculous, but I have a userbase where every username has a space in it. IE: "temp user". Is it possible to use samba to authenticate these users? So far I have been able to accept usernames without spaces flawlessly, but not the ones with spaces. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! -- View this message in context:

Problems with Samba as a PDC for Win2K
I am having difficulties running Samba as a PDC for WIN2K Clients. I'm running version 2.2.5 on a RH7.3 box. Win98 is able to access shares just fine, as is win2k if it is just a member of a workgroup, and not a domain. I have tried both the automated process of setting up a machine account, and the manual method. In the automated case, the machine account is automatically created, but the

Hi, Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 7 or Samba 2.0.5 on Solaris 2.6 security = share Ok, in my previous email on this subject I indicated that switching to security = user might be the right idea to fix the problem I am having. However, this isn't possible for a variety of reasons. So basically, the question is now this: with security = share and the following printer share definition: [printers]

Disappearing shares
I have a problem of shares that "disappear" or are inaccessible. This only happens with Win2k and only for some users. My Samba is version 2.2.2 running on Solaris 2.6. Here's the sequence: 1) The user logs into PC (not using PDC). 2) He connects to Samba server via "Run..." and typing \\spike. 3) The user is prompted for "connect as" and "password".
