samba 2.2.5 and WinXP
I'm setting up a redhat7.3 box for a school, whose sole purpose in life is
to provide a large disk space for educational software packages. These
packages total about 10GB, which means the old Netware server isn't an
option. The school received a grant and bought their teachers new
computers with XP Pro on 'em (replacing Win3.11).
Since they use Client32 on a NW4.11 box, I'm

password server = %M
Sorry if that subject scared you.
Our labs are made up of a mixture of Unix clients and servers, Netware
servers, and NT clients. All logins to the NT clients are done through
Novell's client32. According to our Netware admin, when a person logs in
via client32, a local NT account is created for the user. When the user
logs out, the local NT account is deleted.
This leads me to believe

MEMDISK reset computer with NW Client32
Hi!
I have problem with MEMDISK, because when I load modules in NW Client32
using NIOS.EXE commands, computer is restarted :-( Not everytime, but
manytimes.
The problem is with MSDOS 5.0, 6.22 and FreeDOS too.
But when I create in DOS another RAMDISK and copy all data from MEMDISK
to new RAMDISK and change settings and PATH to new ramdisk, all work fine.
Directly from floppy or from

Logon Musings
I'm toying with the idea of writing a Samba-oriented Win95/98/NT logon
window. I know it's possible to replace Windows' logon mechanism with
another. Novell's Client32 does this. I know there's also standards to
make a network service available to Windows' change-password mechanism
(so I can fire smbpasswd on the other side). That could be an
alternative to establishing

small office
What is the best cost effective solution for a small office:
I need 3 FXS & 2 FXO.
Can I hookup a TDM400P and 2 X100P on the same computer?
Also, I saw some IP phones for $25.99

Can I use them with asterisk? will they be able to do the same as the
TDM400P?
I read that to run the conference app Meetme you

IAXTEL toll-free gateway
I have been playing around with asterisk for a week or so now and
haven't had too much trouble getting things to work but one thing seems
to puzzle me. I have been patient hoping that there was a configuration
error on the server or that the toll-free gateway was down but nothing
has changed. I have the following configuration context for IAXTEL:

Joint significance of more regressors in summary
Dear All,
I was wondering if it is possible to generate a regression summary (it does
not matter at this stage if from an lm or for example a glm estimate) in
which to obtain the joint significance of a set of regressors?
Examples could be looking at the joint significance level of a polynomial,
or of a set of exogenous variables of which is of interest the linear
combination suggested by the

Unwanted Levels in R
I searched the mailing list archives and found one post relevant to my problem,
but it was not specific enough to solve my problem.
I am reading in a large file of data (I believe it is in ASCII format). I have tried
reading the file in as a data frame and as a list, and both methods result in
unwanted levels being created which leads to problems when I try to copy
or reference certain cells.

Soft SIP phones (with RING !!)
Hi folks,
well the easiest soft phone I have found (from this list) is the x-ten.
great little piece of software.
BUT, on a windows machine I need to plug in a USB device and find the
software to drive it which can actually use a normal handset (similar
to the s100p) but can be used to actually generate/answer the calls and
actually rings when a call is received.
Any ideas ??
