Problems with ADS membership with win2k domain
I'm having problems with ADS membership for samba. I had a "mostly" working version with RHES v2.1, krb5 v1.2, samba v3.0.5. I knew to get to a fully functioning version I would need krb5 v1.3 or later. So finally I had an opertunity to junk RH's crufty krb5 and build from scratch with: RHES v2.1 MIT krb5 v1.4 samba v3.0.13 This works fine on another server. Now to the

Samba and FlashMX and Photoship
(NOTE: If you responde to this please also CC me at twarfield@astcorp.com ....thank you!) Alright we have several users, about 10, using a Samba server with Flash MX. If they copy the files from the server and then work only on their machines and save only to their machines then everything works fine. If they work directly off the files on the server and save to the server while working directly

Wierdness using Samba PDC with WinXP-Pro and Win2K-Pro clients
Hi All- Please tell me if I'm posting to the wrong list. I looked for the list called samba-ntdom (listed at http://us1.samba.org/samba/archives.html) because it seemed a more appropriate forum, but it looks like that list has been dissolved. Has the discussion for that list moved to some other list? Anyway, here's the problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with: I have

FreeBSD5.1, Samba 3 + Win2k
Hi! I am really lost and clueless. I reinstalled my Workstation(Win2k) and my Server(FreeBSD5.1). Bevor that Samba was working alright. I installed Samba 3 on the FreeBSD box. But now in state of security = user I just can't log in. The BSD box is visible in the Workgroup. All I changed is that I have a different user on my workstation now. Bevor on both the server and the workstation were

smbmount to Win2k dying after kernel/samba upgrades
Really odd problem that I'm having, and I'm totally clueless as to whats causing it. Scenario: 2 mounts from a W2K machine to a Linux box. The Win2k box gets powered down overnight. Obviously during this, if i do a df it freezes because it cant reach the drives. I used to be able to boot the machine back up in the morning and it would see the drives again. Not anymore. The same

Win2k can't see the domain
Hi. I have a working 3.0.4 server offering logons and profiles for the Win98 boxes in our network. Now I'm trying to do the same for the Win2k boxes, but no luck. The details: 1. The server's name is curia and the Win2k box's is macellus. I created (with vipw) usernames for curia$ and macellus$. 2. net rpc join -U root%password worked ok, joined domain ROMANOVA. 3. Next, added curia

smbclient & printing on win2k box with HP Deskjet 560C (Drivers?) SMB 2.2.3a - Kernel 2.4.7, red hat 7.2
Hi LUs, I dont have much time at the moment to read tons of documentation. So, I would like to ask a hopefully easy to answer question. Samba is running alright with me, smbclient works fine, but I would like to print from my Linux box over LAN to a printer (HP 560C) connected to a win2k box. Because I can't afford a better or second printer & I also havent got enough room for it

Samba and Win2k Terminal Services
Hello, I have a Samba PDC running (using LDAP in the back-end). I'm able to join systems to the domain, and log in to each machine, at the console, as domain users. However, when I try to log into our Win2k Terminal Server (w/ Citrix Metaframe), the log in session crashes with winlogon.exe trying to reference memory. If I log into the machine via terminal server, as a local

win2k wont join domain; tried everything
I have a fresh installation of Windows 2000. I added the machine account to the samba server but no matter what I do, I can't get it to join the domain. I believe the problem lies with my samba server. The new "net" commandis very confusing to me and I believe I messed something up.I am now unable to login with the root user no matter what; which is required for loggin Win2K into a

Samba + LDAP + Win2k Server problem
Hello, I have a problem with my network confuguration, it does work completely but it seems that there is a problem with the resolving of user names on the win2k server. The domain controller is a samba 2.2.7 (RedHat 8) machine with ldapsam. When i try to set the permissions on a folder on the Win2K server machine it shows the usernames correct, but when i click ok and reopen the permissions

Win2k Password Hash
I posted this earlier, but never saw it show up in the mailing list so I'm posting it again. I have a Samba 3.0 PDC using LDAP as it's password database backend, but I can't get a user to log on to a Win2k machine on the domain. In the log file for the PC (on the Samba machine), I see that the user is found in the LDAP backend but that getpwnam failed. The username does not

Error joining Win2K domain: ads_connect: DSA is unavailable
I'm running 3.0alpha (both current CVS pull and alpha20 from dist) and trying to have my samba server join our already in place Win2K ADS domain. I am able to 'kinit user@DOMAIN' and auth successfully, but upon attempting 'net ads join', I get the following: # net ads join -Uadministrator administrator password: [2002/10/31 05:11:19, 1] libsmb/clikrb5.c:krb5_mk_req2(63)

Samba in a Win2k domain (repeat)
I asked this question back on Monday and haven't seen any responses. Have I not stated the problem clearly enough? Does it appear as if I have not done my homework? Is nobody actually trying to integrate Samba with Win2k domains? Am I not being patient enough? If you've got a clue about how to get Samba to authenticate a user who happens to have his account in a Win2k domain, please

Cannot add Win2k client to domain after removing it once
I have this kind of problem with Win2k clients: While testing I added one win2k client manually to the domain. Everything worked fine then. I wanted add machines on-fly and I removed manually created machine account to test that feature. After removal I haven't been able to add that machine to domain anymore. I can add another win2k clients to domain on-fly or manually but this one machine

Samba in a Win2k domain
John Dodge asked this same question back in December, but I haven't seen any response in the archives. So, here it is again: Samba appears not to be able to authenticate users whose account lives in a Win2k domain. I have a couple Samba 2.0.4b servers that use the local NT 4 PDC for authentication. The NT admins tell me that the new Win2k domain has a trust relationship with the old NT 4

Samba 3.0.1 ADS/Kerberos problems relating to Win2k/xp browsing to samba server
Hello All, I've been discovering the joys of Samba/ADS integration here (the environment is a chip design concern that has chip simulation tools, many of which run in Linux, but some of which only run in Windows. Winbind, and a Linux based NAS server are the cornerstone through which Windows and Linux elements of the toolchain will be able to seamlessly communicate, once we get all the
