Now i have joined the xp clients to PDC and only when adding printer, it prompts that 'the server

smtp_address_cmp does not ignore case of localpart
Hi,
in src/lib-smtp/smtp-address.c line 759 the localpart is compared with
null_strcmp, which does not ignore the case. While this is the correct
behavior (according to the RFC) it causes problems in real life.
In my case the vacation notices are not sent, if someone writes to
First.Last at ruhr-uni-bochum.de because :addresses contains (only)
first.last at ruhr-uni-bochum.de.

Win 2000 & XP Printer problem
I'm running Samba 2.2.5 on HP-UX 10.20.
I've recently started adding WinXP (and 2000) clients to my network.
Here's my issue: (It seems to effect both the XP & 2000 machines)
I installed a WinXP machine on the network. I was able to add a
bunch of samba-networked printers to the Xp machine.
I recently added 2 new printers to the network. I added the
printer names to my

Win 2000 & XP Printer problem RESOLUTION
In case anyone was interested... this turned out to be a Super
BONEHEAD problem....
My printer name was "testron".
Well... come to find out, I have a share with the same name.
Imagine that.
Just an FYI to those new to samba... can't have printer & share names
the same.

Automounting Windows XP share on Linux
I have /etc/auto.master and /etc/auto.smb such that
ls /smb/<name of system>
works for the two Win98 machines on my network (the machines get
automatically mounted and the directory contains "C"). When I try the same
command on the Windows XP machine, I get
No such file or directory
The auto.smb file that came with my OS (Libranet 3) uses smbclient to get a

auditing/closecmd/smbwebstatus patch updates
I'd like to take a moment to thank the samba team for a painless upgrade
from 2.0.2/3 to 2.0.4. configure, make, stop, install, start. It was a
joy. Woo woo!
I've updated for 2.0.4 the patches for my auditing system, the close
command parameter and smbwebstatus.
Everything should be accessible at http://www.reac.com/samba/

Printer: User Intervention Required - Use Printer Offline
For some reason, I cannot get samba (or Win98, depending on how you look
at it...) to allow a win98 client to print.
I search the list archives, but I didn't find anything similar. So here
goes.
Symptoms:
- Win98 client can access fileshares OK. The printers show up OK as well
in network neighbourhood.
- On Linux, printing (lprng) works OK.
- In win98, e.g.

Cannot connect from XP to Samba: Password prompt repeated
Fellow samba folk,
This one's making me want to tear out what little hair I have left.
THE *NIX PLATFORM: FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE, Samba 3.3.8.
THE ENVIRONMENT: Small domain, Windows 2003 servers and XP-pro based workstations. The FreeBSD server is a member server in the domain, so at least that works.
THE SYMPTOMS: This is bizarre. I can, using mount_smbfs on the FreeBSD side, easily

No printer status on Win2K client; Win98 and Linux clients are OK
My Win98(SE) Samba clients can query the Samba-exported printer status,
but Win2K(SP3) clients cannot. Both clients can actually print
documents.
I am running Samba v2.2.3a on a Linux (Red Hat v7.3) system. This server
makes 2 printers (via a LPR subsystem) and several shared directories
available to our Linux, Win98 and Win2K (soon to be WinXP also) clients.
From a Win98 client, print

Samba (old) and shared printers on MS Win 2003 SBS
This might be a rube question; if so I apologize in advance. Someone asked
me to help and I don't have much info, but I have a limited window and have
to be forearmed with as much information as possible before I set foot in
the door.
The guy that asked for help runs a Red Hat 6.2 box with the version of
Samba that came with RH 6.2. I asked him what version of Samba it was. He

now, after following the instructions in 'Using Samba' I have set up an
XP PC to log on to a test server. once the PC has been added to the
